Dealer says multicontour seat is working correctly. Please verify.
Hello all.
I have a 2011 E550 with multicontour seats. Every single time I get into the car, I have to hold down my memory button so that the multicontour seat side bolsters are set to how I want them. Is that supposed to happen? Seems really odd to have to hold the button down every time to get the seat where I set it. I've brought it in twice to the dealer and they insist that it is normal for it to do that.
Can someone please verify this for me?
Thanks.
Mike

I can verify that my bolsters go "limp" or semi-limp as well and need to be reminded where they belong by pressing the memory button. I have no clue if this is normal, but I prefer to sit down and then get clamped in as opposed to squeezing my back side into the seat against the narrowed bolsters. For what it's worth, my E500 was the same way. and.... I find these seats to be one of the best options for those longer road trips.

Interesting. Seems like it would have been nice to just have them set right away. Thanks for the response.
FYI, I agree that they are otherwise wonderful seats.

my C63 has it and it does go "limp" as soon as I turn off the engine. side bolsters doesnt inflate until I hold the memory button again. guess its normal? would love it to be part of the seat memory though.

My seat acts the same way KEY08 described. I always thought the air bladders were designed to lose tension when not in use.
Perhaps this is related but if I do some cornering that engages the dynamic feature, it doesn't always return to the original position/tension. Not saying it stays fully engaged like while cornering, but that the bolster may return to a flatter than desired position. If I notice a difference, I just press in the memory button again.

I don't think you should have to HOLD the button to get the multi-contoured seats to inflate the bladders.
It's a different car, a CL550, but it's manual says:
" If you release the storage position button,
the seat, steering wheel and mirror setting
functions stop immediately. The
multicontour seat setting or the lumbar
support adjustment are still carried out."

Same thing here, I have to press the memory button a few times during longer rides to re-inflate the bolsters. Definitely not what I would expect, but it seems common.

Those LED lights on the seating control panel remain illuminated.

The led on the dynamic seat goes off when you open the car door I think. It may remain on a little longer, but it goes off eventually. Thankfully the memory function saves the setting for the dynamic seat if you happen to turn it off or adjust the level.
