I had my rear bumper finished and repainted. I'm not happy with the outcome and the "5 star" auto body shop is aware of it. He has offered to re-do it. To me, the paint is hazy/cloudy, not as close to being as shiny as the rest of the car. I also found what seems like dings or maybe paint dimples/indentations in the back part of the bumper.

What do you guys think and should I give this shop another chance? This is out of my pocket and not through insurance.

He had done my front bumper, and did it much better than this. I chose these guys because of their reviews and because of the job on my front bumper.

I'm told that once you re-paint a car, it can never match factory paint, but still..i'm disappointed with this job..

Maybe it's the wax that's making it look shiny? I dunno. Check out the body above the "crease" line compared to the newly painted bumper, especially in the 2nd picture. You can clearly see my reflection above the crease versus below.

Does this also have to do with the fact that the bumper is plastic vs steel?

Unfortunately no one will be able to tell unless they are standing within a foot or two of the actual car. If you don't think it was done right it needs to be redone

sorry but can't really tell from the photos. probably have to see it in person. but follow your gut. if you think its off, it probably is. have it re-done to your approval.

OT: nice deep dish you got there. you lowered? when you get the time, would appreciate more pics of the car. cheers and goodluck with your bumper.

Thnx all for the advice. I just dropped the car off again. I wasn't satisfied, and the job could have been done better. It seems the auto repair tech even agreed with some reluctance. He's not that friendly to work with, but business is business, I guess.

I hope for better results this time around.

And I hate the anxiety that comes with leaving my car somewhere! Ugh!! I'm sure some of you share the same feeling.

It appears some parts of your rear bumper looks hazy and not a mirror like finish. I would get them to re do it.

Agreed. It's in the shop again as of a few hours ago.

Hard to tell from the pics. You could have titled this thread look at my great paint job and guys would be coming in looks awesome etc., myself included....at the end of day you need to be happy and I'm guessing it looks worse standing in front of it. Best of luck

..just an update..

I got my car back on Saturday and it is looking better than ever. They won my business back. I know it's hard to tell in pictures, but here's an "after" picture of the rear bumper.

did they repaint or buff the bumper? a good detailer can do wonders!

The collision shop re-did the entire bumper. What I had before was beyond detail repair.

Glad it worked out for you and that you're happy with the result. If you hadn't had it re done, your eyes would be drawn to the bumper every time you approached the car. Well done.

Thanks, and yes you are correct. It was an eye-sore for me! We car guys have too much stress - lol.
