E 350 Battery randomly dies
I have a 2010 E 350, 78K. Every time I'm overseas, my wife has the battery die, which is incredibly irritating. After blaming her numerous times for not locking the car correctly... I brought it to MB to check the charging system etc. and everything check out. It just happened again with me at home this time, (12th time?), so I put the battery on a trickle charge to make sure it was full. After 2 hours I pulled the cover over the battery because it was still drawing 2 amps, and found the AC fan still running! Something is not triggering the AC fan to shut off. I restarted the car, turned the AC off, and the fan stayed off when I shut it down. I then restarted and left the AC on; it turned off when I shut the car down as it should. Anyone know what would randomly keep the AC blower motor indefinitely running with the car off, locked, and key not present? Thanks for the help, I'm off to shoot a crow.

Many have reported an evaporator fan running to dry the AC system after it is used. Supposedly it helps keep the climate system from getting a musty smell. Did you see the blower fan running inside the air intake cowl?
I seem to recall that when battery drain issue was presented to the dealer some reported that the dealer turned off the fan drying cycle in the system. Don't have any experience with that myself - just what I recall from reading other posts on here.
A 2amp draw doesn't seem too high so long as the fan is shutting off after it's cycle. Is your battery the original? If so, age may be playing a factor too.

The HVAC blower comes on after the car is turned off to dry out the system and deter the moldy smell. I don't know the timing of it but it's normal. I was surprised once by it cycling when I had the box over the battery out while installing something.

It may very well be the battery is either about dead or car is not being driven enough to recharge a very weak battery.
The evaporator fan running after shutdown is normal. Shouldn't run for very long though.
Note that the replacement MB battery is only warranted for two years and after that not even pro-rata coverage on a battery that costs over $300.
