HI all,
I am searching for a good product to clean the wood grain on the interior of the car. Right now the meguiars stuff I use for the dash and other plastic parts leaves a bit of a film and anything else I have tried does the same thing.
Anyone got something good.

Pledge or Endust has always served me well.

You aren't cleaning the wood, anyway --- you are cleaning the thick plastic coating.
Avoiding any abrasive and solvent would seem to be the key.

Read the Operator's Manual. Only use water and a damp cloth. Do not use cleaners, polishes, waxes, etc. That's what it says.

+1 on the damp cloth. Only thing I'd add is a dry microfiber to dry off quickly - just like cleaning glass.

Agree with El-Cid, use water, and if oil-grease-food gets on any surface a light soap per the manual-dries quickly, no residue, and economical. Also, some Microfiber can actually scratch the finish on most of the MB interior, it is not recommended for use on MB-Tex or leather. I have only used pledge (all surface) on stainless steel parts-cleans well-no scratches, looks great, and soot does not seem to build up like before.

I have no idea what they use at the car wash.

I guess this means you get the full service car wash, to include interior or are you talking a full detail at a car wash?Originally Posted by CarolinaBluetec

I use car wash for all my vehicles, but get the exterior wash and wax only. I can do the interior myself and prefer to use special vinyl and leather cleaners and such, but not on the wood. I can do a better job cleaning the mats and vacuming as well.
Many car washes spray way too much Armor All on the interior surfaces and leave way too much behind. Also, some surfaces are "treated" and others are ignored leaving one oily and others dry.

It's a clear coat over that woodgrain, it can actually be sanded and polished to a brilliant shine again
BUT, follow what the manufacture says...
In this video he did NOT sand it but he did polish it. You can use any cutting polish you want.. If you put a sealant on that wood make sure the tape is still on protecting the dashboard.. Sealant will turn the dash white and mess it up and you will be in there with a toothbrush and degreaser.
