Agreed with most guys here, tint is a must. I have 15 rear and 30 all sides. And I think that's too light. If I could do it all over again, I would do 5 rear and 15 all side windows. I mean, it's all illegal anyway where I live, so you might as well go for it!

What I find very disturbing is that several posters have said "I can't see at night" but they are still in favor of "tints" (the correct term is "tint" - as in tinted glass)
While many posters cite the desire for "heat reduction", darker tint does not serve that purpose. A 60% ceramic tint (3M Crystalline or Huper Optik for example) will provide superior heat and UV rejection while still allowing you to see.
I find it incredulous that anyone would choose appearance over safety. This is sounding more like Honda Civic forum than a MB forum.
The "poll" needs more options:
I want gangsta tints and seeing out at night or in the rain is way overrated.
I want tint only for UV/heat rejection and prefer to be able to see
For those of you "on the fence" about the amount of tint, wear a pair of sunglasses all day and night while driving. Leave them on in tunnels, in parking garages and on dark highways. Most sunglasses allow for 30% light transmission. Remember that you can't take of the tint when it gets dark.

Do you need a hug? There's no need to belittle others if you have a difference of opinion. Just state how you feel and keep it moving along. Show some class and be a reasonable example for the younger forum members.

Do you have issues with anything else I said in that post?

Sorry I just had to respond to this post. The correct term IS actually "tints" in the car world and nobody cares about you correcting grammar. I'll be the first to tell you that my 2015 e350 is 5% all around and 55% on the front windshield. Nobody's opinion on the fact that it is illegal matters to me as this is what I prefer. (I live in Florida and have actually been complimented by a local sheriff about how good it looks) I will also say that it protects the interior from fading and keeps the mbtex cooler by 10 fold. As for the fact of not seeing at night, I just don't drive the car at night if I can help it but even if I do I don't have a problem seeing at all. Must be my young 25 year old eyes. For some reason there is an obstruction in my view I put my big boy pants on and here we go, hold on, I roll the windows down! Lol. It is all a preference of what you like to drive with, I've driven with 5% since I was 17, never been pulled over and have never not been able to see. Thanks for your arrogant opinion, so I figured I would throw a little arrogance back your way.
Never been pulled over or missed something in all 8 years of your driving? Wow what a great record. It is ridiculous to have to open your window to see just in case. Hardly what I want to do while driving at night or in the rain. I can't seem to be able to avoid doing that. But then I have a few more than 8 years of driving in my history.

Not going to go back and forth over it, so no worries. You're definitely empowered to feel that way. It just seemed like you got a little pissed more than I was expecting from anyone over this topic. Maybe I read it wrong and you weren't putting anyone down.

35% front and rear sides and 20% rear windshield. Both my car and the wife's car. I had the windshield tinted on previous cars but officers around here wear polarized lenses and pulled me over more than once.

I'm surprised they still pull people over for tints/tint (Whatever lol). I know when I got my car inspected there was no issue where as back in the day you wouldn't pass inspection. I guess if the police are more traffic oriented in your area then they'll pull people over. In North Jersey there's more than enough crime to worry about vs pulling folks over for tints etc.
FYI, I've never had the front windshield tinted personally so I'm not sure if that will cause some one not to pass inspection. I've seen many others with the front tinted and they never get pulled over however.

I have a friend of a friend that can get me the DMV permission to have tint but it will cost me $350. I am stil weighing the benefit of being able to tint my windshield dark on every car forever.
