Mercedes Extended Warranty

I was doing some digging and decided to reach out to my local Mercedes dealer as well as Jeff Santos, who's highly recommended by a few people here, on MB extended warranty options. Jeff was quick and courteous, and he was about 30% lower than my local dealer. If you are thinking about a genuine MB extended warranty, I'd highly recommend Jeff.

Thanks for the info, may I ask how much did you paid and what are the terms?

Out of respect for Jeff, I'll leave out the details. However, the first dealer was just a tad over $3K for a 7 year/75,000 mile warranty. Jeff was about 30% lower. ;-)

I thought so, too. I received the contract electronically minutes after my phone transaction and it is a legitimate MB warranty including extended roadside assistance!

Good luck!

I am also in the market for a MB extended warranty and have reached out to several folks. My local dealer came back to me with a CNA National Z series warranty, not a MB warranty. They said I am not eligible for a MB warranty. My car is still under the original factory warranty but I am the second owner. Am I not eligible for a MB extended warranty?

Jeff is one of the folks I have emailed. I hope to hear back from him but if I don't soon I'll give him a ring. Thanks.

turns out my car is not eligible for a MB warranty because I did not buy it from a MB dealer and/or it wasn't MB certified. I have 33k miles on my 2012 E350, it has been serviced since I have owned it by the local MB dealer, and I cannot get a MB warranty extension. Seems wrong.

As far as I know any car which still has MB original warranty can be extended unless it is CPO'ed. It shouldn't matter if you bought your's from a private or non MB dealer (I think it matters if you bought from MB dealer). Why don't you give MBUSA a call and they would shed some light on it. Anyway they are the ones offering the warranty. Good luck and keep us updated.

So i just did an online chat with a MB rep, they confirmed that since I did not buy the car from a MB dealer as a certified MB it is not eligible for a MB extended warranty.

That can't be correct. I just bought an MB warranty and I did not buy my 14 E350 from a MB dealer, nor was it a CPO. I did hear from somewhere that in order to qualify for an MB extended warranty your vehicle needs to be within the original warranty period. Perhaps your car is out of warranty?

who specifically told you this?

Did you hear back from Jeff Santos? He or one of the others mentioned in the extended warranty thread are the ones you should be listening to. They do this all the time and I have heard of several others with similar experiences as "thephantom"

Same here, no issues at all with buying the car from a "non-MB" dealer. I checked this out before buying the car. It's a non-CPO as well. I bought the extended MB warranty before the original factory expired. Never any problems or even questions when taken in for work. The overall vehicle cost was less even with extended warranty than if I had gone the CPO route.

Yes, Jeff Santos also confirmed that I am not eligible. My original warranty expires this July. I guess I am just SOL.

That sucks because if you had bought the car privately from an owner who had purchased ELW, it could have been easily transferred to you. May not apply to dealer transactions.

I would keep trying other dealers. Some have reported being told this before but had success with other dealers. I was offered the official MB ELW even though I bought from Carmax and my car had 50,400 miles on it. Finance guy wanted to sell it and call MBUSA to confirm he could.

Granted this was almost two years ago so things could have changed or you could just be dealing with dealer specific policies. But I would try others like Erin in Santa Rosa or Dan in Austin.

Well, I would think that the MBUSA rep I chatted with would have said I was ok also, but she said I wasn't eligible. They must have changed policies. I have a couple more folks I emailed and have not heard back from so maybe there is still some hope.

Well could have changed officially. But two years ago when I looked into this the same results of not being able to purchase from some dealers was being shared here. When I meant to my dealer, I fully expected to get turned down for two reasons - not buying from MB and being out of factory warranty. Perhaps they started cracking down on it.

Given how much better and cheaper the MB ELW is than other 3rd party warranty options, I would continue to pursue until you run out of time.

If you're not eligible, can you have them explain why? Is it new policy or does your car not qualify for some other reason? It sounds like you should qualify if you didn't buy it from an MB dealer, it's under 4/50k and there was no previous extended warranty.

From people that have the extended warranty, are there any big ticket items that are missing from coverage?
