Bittersweet goodbye MBWorld...hello 2016 Lexus IS350-F
Thursday was a bittersweet moment as I said goodbye to my beautiful 2010 E-350 4-Matic Sport. What a true pleasure to own such an amazing piece of machinery. She'll be sadly missed. I ran up the miles quick and was 3k miles from hitting my 85k extended warranty so I traded the Benz in for a new Lexus IS350-F sport. I entertained moving into a 2014 E-550 but the numbers just wouldn't work for my budget.
Thanks to everyone on this board as you helped me solve so many minor and major issues along my 4 year journey.
2 days old and my new love has already been treated to tint and an upgraded cat-back. She'll never have the power of MB's infamous 550 or AMG but damn she scoots and roars like a true sports sedan!!!!
Dealership Pics (upon picking her up)
Day 1
Day 2 (tint & cat-back)
Next project is smoking the exterior lights and black wrap the chrome trimmings...

It's a great daily driver. We're on our third IS350 and each one has been perfect......100% trouble free. I think it's a handsome and sporty looking ride. Expect plenty of compliments.

Hahaha, some good amount of hating going on. Definitely not what I expected but like you said, to each their own. Keep in mind, Mercedes isn't a lot of upper echelon vehicles either…unless you're cruising in a newer S-Class or an AMG model, then you're being looked down on often by the top 20%'ers =)

There is no hate going on except in your mind. I hope you were not looking for praise for your purchase of a lexus over a Mercedes on a Mercedes Benz web site. If a Lexus is what you want then look for praise on a lexus web site. If the lexus is the style you like I have no problem with it. Like I said to each his own. Good luck

Enjoy your Toyota and best of luck to you. Now that was negative Why would you post pictures of a Toyota if you did not want praise. Come on be truthful!!!!

1. Loved my Benz, it was my affordable dream car for years
2. I drive 25k miles a year & needed a stronger 100k warranty
3. I never said I "stepped up". In fact, this "premium Toyota" is exactly what I needed for me & merely a "step in the right direction" from my 2010 E.

That's one of the sleekest looking toasters I've ever seen. A mix between a cylon and the predator.

I think the IS is an ok looking car. Only thing I actually hate is that they're not lowered like the sport models with MB. Good luck to you!

Good luck with the Lexus. Understand that you will miss the Benz, but if you put lots of miles on very quickly, MB may not be the best choice, at least financially.
I can't say I'm totally thrilled with the direction that TMC has gone with style lately. My wife has been shopping for a new car for a little bit and we looked at Lexus and that spindle grill design as they call it didn't do anything for me. I tried to see if she would go with a MB or Audi but new they were just too expensive and since she does home health in some less than desirable neighborhoods, she felt that a three pointed star would make her too much of a target. So yesterday we drove the new Genesis (nice car, not a benz, but much better than the previous model and not nearly as chintzy on the inside) but ended up with an Avalon hybrid for about the same money.
The lines from the side are nice enough, but that grill, oh well, its her car, and it is really quiet on the highway. Enjoy the new ride.

The hating is in your own mind, no hating here, maybe some may feel sorry for you I had 3 Lexus before, some not as reliable as others, but one thing they all have in common, they are not as well build as Mercedes. The current Lexus grille is one of the uglist design on the market now in my opinion, not sure what the Lexus designers were thinking of when they design that thing. Going from a E class to an IS, its almost like downgrading 3 model lines. The overall quality of the IS, interior and exterior, is one level below the C class. Good luck with your IS, it should last you for years, if you can stand driving it for that long

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Aren't used 2014 e550's in the 40's now? wouldn't that have been compatible with pricing on a brand new IS350-f sport
Congrats on the new ride

The facts are that Lexus makes some of the most reliable and well built cars in the world. I can't say it feels like a downgrade when I go from my CLS63 to the Lexus. Brand loyalty is fine but you are being narrow-minded if you summarily dismiss Lexus as a premium automotive brand.
