A nice problem to have?

We picked up my wife's E250 a few days ago after having some transmission work done. Now the Eco mode turns itself off about a second after the car starts, and can't be re-engaged.

We'll be taking it in to get checked out later this week (who knows if this might be a symptom of a larger problem) but couldn't help think how many others would love to have this same 'problem'.

They checked a wrong box while re-coding it...wonder how they explain later how it cannot be done...

Might be your auxiliary battery going bust. Try to see whether the brake "hold" function still works. If it does then you have nothing to worry about. Otherwise, I guess it's gonna be a another few hundred bucks out of your pocket. Good luck!

If it is such a nice problem, why not leave it the way it is.

I'm worried it may be a symptom of some other problem, so will get it checked out.

The car is under warranty, and the start/stop doesn't bother us. The work order shows that they updated the SAM software while the car was in. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Let them check it out but if that is the only problem tell them to leave it alone. Did you try pumping the brake twice to see if it still holds when you take your foot off as Royce 118 asked?

If that is all that is wrong I would leave it alone. Wish mine would have done that

ill have it checked. the eco mode is not suppose to be that way so there is something wrong with it. maybe its just a wrong configuration and nothing major but still... also, it may be a dream come true for a few members on here but still...

Finally got around to having this checked out. The problem turned out to be a loose Eco pump.
If anyone is looking to permanently shut off the start/stop, this might be an easy way to do so. 😀

Not a fan of the start / stop Eco feature either. Have already had to replace the aux battery, plus, it's too jarring in its function, the idea is good, but the real life function is just not smooth - and I can't imagine it's good for the engine to cycle through turning off and on in quick succession many times during a drive on the stop and go freeways of CA.

I don't find the start/stop that bad. Sometimes the lack of responsiveness is a little off-putting, but in casual driving, it's not so bad.

I'm not worried about engine durability. Engines and oil have come a long way since the days where we'd say that most wear came from starting the engine. Hybrids have been doing it for over a decade without widespread issues.
