2010 Grille Dealer/3rd Party/ Nobody can verify! HELP!

I'm new here, but I've got a real issue to share ----
1. I've contacted the dealer
2. I've contacted 3rd party dealers/ companies

Problem: Apparently this grille cannot be found anywhere. I purchased car few years back with this grille on the vehicle. The main difference here is that there are 5 total horizontal pieces and a big star emblem smack in the middle of it. I have attached a picture.

Has anyone seen this off a 2010 E350 4Matic ???
(VIN: WDDHF8HB2AA108451) Avantgarde Package

that doesn't look OEM to me so the dealer can't help you. Check ebay.

Where did the star go?

Dealer (like I mentioned) cannot help. I have been looking all over EBAY. No Luck. ** The reason I need grille assembly is because I lost the star.

Sorry, don't recognize it. Maybe someone else on here will. But even so, probably not for sale anymore.

How did you lose it? Did it just fall off while driving?

I've had trouble with it before after car washes, where it fell off, had to re-glue and typically would go right into inserts and secured it with special glue. This time around, the car wash took it off, I re-attached but didn't get the chance to re-apply new glue.

Remove grille to identify its actual part # see here: http://workshop-manuals.com/mercedes...ce_and_repair/ if you rather not remove grille see if OEM part 1648880411 fits via dealer if so you can then order online.

1. MB never had that grille design for the pre FL 212 from factory so its definitely aftermarket.

2. try to measure diameter of the hole for the star and see if theres an OEM avail from the dealer or look into ebay.

3. from your 1st photo, i cant see where the star should rest or snap in place. was there a piece that broke off or something?

4. might be a blessing in disguise, thought about changing the look of your car and goin with another grille design? theres quite a few from ebay and very inexpensive.

I do have PART number, but AUTOHAUSAZ, a company I gave this part # to said:
"Thanks David. By the VIN your car came with the Avantgarde package, so that part # you provided is correct for what would have been on the car when it was produced, but that is definitely not what is in the photo of the car. Sorry but we are not showing a listing for what is on the car, my guess is that is a grille from a non-Avantgarde model but we do not have any listings for those."

any pre facelift grill for the W212 should fit. Check out other threads like this one for ideas: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...pics-here.html

That is original OEM that would have been installed on assembly line that has since been replaced I was suggesting to identify the part # on the actual grille currently installed. Revisiting your photos see if dealer has 1648880411 in stock to see if it fits if it does you can search online – or not.

i reckon what dealer or even ebay aftermarket sellers sell are the star by itself and not the center mesh that hold the star in place. may have broken off from your grille mate.

just type in '10-'13 pre facelift w212 sedan front grille on ebay and it will give you heaps of options.

incidentally im in the market for a new grille as we speak (type ) but im still not sure if i wanna go with the star the grille as i dont think im ready to give up my hood star yet.

It looks as though someone just cut the OEM grille with a dremel tool and jammed in a star.

wow !!! after looking at my grille again - you're exactly right ! That would explain why the part # is the original OEM. DANG!!!

Based on the site you provided: would this one fit even though it's different amount of levels ...

as long as you don't have Distronic then that will fit. Takes 5 minutes to swap out a grille.

I think it's pretty ugly as the proportions are all off/the star sits too low but it should fit.

This is the better looking non-OEM grille in my opinion:

Pre-facelift W212 look best with the stock pre-FL grill and hood star IMO.

Can somebody please tell me which choice this grille is from the drop down box on the website that YYZ-E55 provided.

http://www.55tech.com/collections/w2...style-grille-1

Its the last 4 photos from that page. Its black frame with matte silver fin with distronic. Theres 2 black frames with distronic from the drop down box and i want the matte silver fin. Thanks.

I tend to agree with you but the single-bar grille above is the first and only one I've ever seen where the proportions look close to OEM.

NEWS ALERT *** I did end up getting a grille *** installed it (very easy) ... Here's my issue now if it is an issue ... the grille mesh if you look closely is a gloss, whereas the mesh on the bottom skirt of front bumper is a matte flat black mesh ... is the original oem a flat mesh for this type of grille?

I think it looks great. It's one of those things where you don't ever see it, but you know the difference is there so you want to correct it (if they should either be all matt or all gloss)

personally I think 99% time no one would notice and should probably just leave it alone :-)

(I noticed you like to take pictures when it's wet out haha)
