Problems with rear parking sensors?
So I have the rear sensors which have the little lights above the rear seats and in front of the dash. As I'm reversing they light up and the more lights the closer I am to whatever is behind me.
Recently when I put the car in reverse it immediately starts beeping and there are two red lights on either side of the center of the "sensor lights".
It doesn't happen everytime but it's been more often than not. Any ideas? The first time it happened I thought maybe the sensors were dirty so I got th car washed and it fixed the problem but then it came back.

Bad sensor
I have had multiple Mercedes with the Parktronic system and I think it is one of the best systems due to the light indicators which help tell you proximity as well as direction to obstacles. I have had your scenario happen during rain storms and more particularly snow/ice. On one occasion with my E500 I had the same symptom and it turned out to be one defective sensor. It was replaced and everything went back to normal. The dealer can hook up the diagnostic Star and tell you if you have s bad sensor along with pinpointing which one is the culprit in short order. I'm sure you have a sensor that is failing on you.

No Sweat. If the sensor continues getting worse the system will automatically shut down when it senses the continuing fault. You can always shut it off yourself manually if it does not shut down automatically and the beeping is random and incessant.

My 2012 does that 5-10% of the time. I either hit the button to turn the system off or restart the car (which fixes it 50% of the time).

MB has THE WORST parking sensors ever designed. If you say these are the best, you clearly have not seen one from BMW or even on a RAM 1500. Antiquated LED dots? Seriously? LOL BMW has an on-screen display that is actually useful and tells you where the obsticle actually is unlike MB either left or right front or left or right back only. On the BMW you can see if it's in the middle! AND it's nicely integrated into the cameras!

Doesn't MB offer the 360 camera now? They finally caught up. I am fine with my system on the 2011. No false alarms yet...
