The "Rest" button

Funny thing...I've had my E550 for 5 months now and just now realized what this button does....I honestly sware I dont even remember seeing it until yesterday thinking someone installed it over night while I was sleeping...lol...once I checked out just what it did from my manual I was pretty surprised. It's a nice little option....I'm just wondering

....do many who have it use it?

I believe that you press the button when the engine is off and it is cold out and you want to sit in the car and stay warm. It transfer the heat from the engine into the cabin for about 1/2 hour to keep you warm while you sit in the car.

I read that...but will it do the same thing in the summer with the AC?

I do not think so since it uses the heat from the engine. Heat and air conditioning do not go well together. You do not want the heat from the engine going into a car during the summer when you have the air on.

I don't believe it's available in the USA... guess that's why your Mercs are so darn expensive up there.

You'd think an option like this would be available in all the cars as a standard option.

US cars used to have the rest function. My C32 AMG had it and quite frankly it was worthless in terms of maintaining cabin warmth for any reasonable length of time. I used it a couple times and then forgot about it.

Oh...so it's not Canadian thing then....like I said...I just noticed it so I haven't had a chance to play with it. I'm just curious as to why some cars have it and some dont.

More like not a US thing for the E. I think it may still be available on the S but not sure. In older stinky AC threads folks would recommend using rest to dry out the evap coils.
