Help me choose a used E350
- I know you're not limited to CPO but it's my understanding that you cannot purchase a MB extended warranty for a car purchased at a non-MB dealer. I went CPO as I basically have up to 4.5 years and unlimited miles worth of warranty.
- I thought I wanted a luxury model before I did the test drive. I just didn't like the way the luxury drove, it was "too luxurious" for me. That said both luxury and sport are more comfortable than my BMW. I'm very happy with the sport but it's not as tight as the BMW - no surprise there.
- I had a very good buying experience w/ MB of Tysons Corner. Happy to connect you with my salesman if you are interested.
- If you are at a MB dealership, don't buy the extended warranty or maintenance plans w/out doing online research. There are a number of threads in the forum on finding the best pricing.
- As I'm sure you've noticed, there are a large number of late model E350s in the area. I cross-shopped a number of dealerships and there are deals to be had.
Good luck!
I just traded my 13 4matic for a 14 RWD. LOVE IT. Worth the extra money for the new body style imo. I highly recommend the sport version. CPO imo is not worth the extra money. I plan on buying a third party warranty after the 4/50 factory one is up
As someone with both a 13 and 14, go with the 14!!! The front looks SOOO much better, and the interior blue lighting is pretty slick.
Once the car is CPO'd by an MB dealership, then you cannot get MB ELW (but CPO is good enough).
There seems to be some conflicting information about this particular issue. I was told by MBUSA that MB ELW can only be sold to the original owner of the vehicle if the vehicle is not CPO. Thus if the vehicle was purchased from a private party or a non-MB dealer, the second owner would not qualify to purchase the MB ELW.
But others on this forum have stated they were able to purchase the MB ELW even though they had purchased their car from a private party or non-MB dealer.
My experience was that I was not able to purchase a MB ELW even when the vehicle was transferred among family members. (i.e. given to me by a parent). However I was able to get the original owner (family member) to purchase the MB ELW in their name then transfer the MB ELW to me.
Happened on more than one occasion.
So maybe some dealers have found a way to sell MB ELW to non original owners, or maybe MB is not enforcing that rule anymore. or maybe something else all together.

I've also checked with a few of the dealers in the extended warranty forum and was also told the same thing.

Also you can't buy the MB extended warranty or CPO if you got it from an MB dealer. Other person mentioned that they bought it from a non MB dealer and still couldn't get it. The dealers in those other forums used to sell it. Sometimes there may be reasons like it was a previous CPO so that would also not qualify for the extended warranty.

How much discount should one expect form the advertised price?

How much discount should one expect form the advertised price?I think when I researched it, the average cost was about 1000 a year for around 12K miles per year. If I drove it for 3 years and nothing major happens, I'm 3 grand ahead. If something does break, then anything less than 3 grand in repairs and I'm still ahead. So far, about a year and a half into ownership and 20K miles and shes doing fine.
Any modern vehicle can have issues, some more than others. Keeping up with scheduled maintenance is the best bet to avoiding major mechanical issues and you are already cool with doing that yourself. Buy the car that makes you smile when you get behind the wheel and treat it like your baby. That will probably be the best insurance you have against problems down the road.
I also have to add, I have far greater satisfying experience with the independent shops compared to the RR dealers when in comes to service. I will mostly likely will go that route for the E350 once the 50K transferable warranty runs out.
Question: Does the car have to be maintained at MB dealership for any transferable warranty to be honored?

Dealer service is not required. But with all warranties you must keep maintenance records to be able to prove you had it done. Of course read any terms to be sure you know what is expected.

New to this forum but not new to forums in general. I research most of the stuff I buy and put a considerable research effort before buying anything over $1000. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I have bought after a thorough research for the last 10+ years. I am hoping you guys will be able to assist me my next major purchase, a Benz.
Background: My current vehicle is a 1996 Range Rover 4.6 HSE. This car has been a worry free car for me contrary from what I have read online. I bought the car in year 2000 with 43K miles on it. Current mileage on the car is 138K. No major issue except wear and tear on breaks, rotors and tires. All have been replaced twice. I have experienced issues with the electronic air suspension and based on the recommendation on the Range Rover forum, I replaced with a manual suspension in 2005 and I have had no issues since then. I have done all the recommended maintenance until I hit 80k and since then the only maintenance I done is change the oil every 3000 miles, change cabin filter and air filter but that is it. Car still rides very nice. I hoping any MB E350 class I buy would give a trouble free ride like my RR did.
I am looking into buying a used E350 2010-2014 with a very low mile, certainly not more than 50K miles but most likely at around 40k or below. I live in Silver Spring, MD USA and have seen quite a few with low miles and within my price range which is under $30k US. I may spend a bit more for the 2014 model. CPO would be nice but the price goes up considerably higher, so not sure if it is worth it if I buy one with 40k miles on it.
Not sure what the major differences are between 2010 -2013. They look the same from the exterior and the 2014 looks it has been redesigned with minor changes to the exterior. I am in the preliminarily stages of my research so I have not l test drive any of the models. I am still trying to learn the differences between this models. Reliability is very important to me as this will be my only means of transportation so I don't want to spend my time or money at the dealership.
Can you please educate ma a bit the differences between this model and which one I should concentrate my research? I am looking into a good balance between reliability, interior, appointments, ride handling etc...
Also what is the major difference between the luxury 4Matic model and the sport 4Matic model?
Thank you all for your assistance, much appreciated!
I got an 2011 e350 if you want text me up and ill send you all the info and pics. if you interested send me a text 4405541333
