Me and the mrs went to the W213 launch down here at our local. Exterior looks so much better in person. Its not as bad as some had percieved it would be. I personally like the white front bar compared to the black. But my oh my, ymthe prices on these entry level Es are unbelievably high!
Now once you sit in the cockpit, its a whole new ballgame. And those seats, its like i didnt wann step out anymore.
They also had a few AMGs on display with some crazy numbers right next to them...
Tell me about it Keith. Entry level MBs here sometimes can cost as much as an AMG somewhere else. Thats why i keep shakin my head everytime i see a C63 for sale on the other side of this forum.
$88k for a E 220 CDI, unbelievable, i can get an 2017 S 550 here for that price. But i guess they are selling them if they are putting those numbers on it.
The S 63 coupe is best looking Mercedes ever built in my opinion, and in the same token the GLE 63 is the ugliest Mercedes ever made. Just an awful attempt to copy the BMW X6 (which is an awful looking vehicle in its own right)
Even at these E prices, they sell down here like pancakes. So im expecting a lot of Es on the road in a few months. Also, last i heard Australia has the highest number of AMGs sold anywhere in the world.
I agree with your S63 coupe comment, (although id go for the S65 coupe if i can). But the GLE63 is a mean looking beast imo. So much better than the fugly x6 if you ask me.

No offense to anybody, i remember when i went to the same dealership a while back, there was an S65 coupe on display and it has a "sold" sticker on it. I ask my salesman and he said there was a young chinese guy that walked in and bought it.....cash.
That E200 didn't seem too far off from the US prices once you do the conversion from AU to US dollars. The delivery fee seems high, but I guess they're far from Germany, usually US is under 1000. That plus a bunch of other fees and taxes make it really up there. Although to be fair, in the US, they don't mention the state sales tax on the sticker which can vary from state to state. I would also think that the US is typically the largest market so overhead per car is lower.
I'm in the Seattle area, won't offend me, it's the new reality here (the stories I've heard). It should keep a supply of interesting used cars anyway, just too bad about the real estate.

Without question the S65 (even though the S63 is quicker to 60mph) but i was just referring to the styling of it. I dont know i just never got into the whole SUV / Coupe / Muscle Car platform. But i see a lot of GLE 63 all over Hollywood so i guess it fairly popular.

GLE63s are dime a dozen down here but i still try to catch a second glance every time i see one. especially if i see one from my rear view mirror, its like coming to devour you.

bear in mind that the prices (US$65,000) are for E300 and not the E200 (AU$108,000) that i posted.
so even after conversion, will come down to US$80+k for an E200. im sorry but thats nowhere near the price tag of US65K for an E300. if and when an E200 is released on your side, might be as low as US$45-50K.

Why would the E200 be so much cheaper than the E300, don't they both have 4 cyclinders ?
Well the buyers down there are paying those prices so it makes sense for MB to price the vehicles as high as possible without turning off the customers.
Is diesel fuel cheaper down there than regular petrol? What is the cost per liter ?
