BMW 535d diesel has been approved by EPA for sales in USA but MBZ has not. MBZ does not seem to admit they have problem with diesel like VW. Very interesting!

The OM 654 is a all new engine for the U.S. market. So it is not surprising that approval will take a little longer, especially with the ongoing emissions probe.

DUH a German environmental organization conducted real life emission test between May-Aug this year turn out MBZ e220d as cleanest car among 36 models from the world. Next in line was Audi and VW. No other cars passed. Maybe we might see e220d Bluetek in USA after all.

Also Jaguar has a 2.0 liter diesel available right now for their XE and XF models and F-Pace.
BMW USA in the 'Bulid' area show you can 'build' a 535D right now, unlike the MBUSA site.
I'm in the mkt for a diesel late next year. Which one hasn't been determined yet. Mercedes may lose out the way their going right now............meaning I Hate/Loathe that they removed the six cylinder diesel from their lineup. I'm a owner of a ML350 Bluetec by the way, with the six cylinder diesel.

2017 e22d seems to be night and day differ in terms of design and feature. Talking about mileage, it gets 70 MPG on high way. Check it out in You Tube!

In Europe or elsewhere the mpgs are not comparable with US since their emissions and other parameters are different AND the size of gallons are different. The British gallon is 4.5 liters where as US gallon is 3.785 liters.
Can you confirm where was the 70mpg figure from?

Too bad e220d is not coming to US at least for 2016. It seems so phenomenal car even with small engine. e220d will start sales in Asian market after 3 months delay caused by VW emission scandal. Korean market has government approval for sales now.
