cruise control not working properly
On way home from vacation I used cruise and it worked fine in morning then latter on during the day when I wanted to set at a different speed it would only go to the old setting. After car was turned off and re started it worked fine first time then went to only being set at 60 65 70 75 would not take any setting like 63 or 66 or 72. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this? Also I should be able to click the lever up and increase setting one mph at a time but it only increases by 5 mph each time. I still have 2 more days of driving to get home. If anyone can help I would appreciate it Thanks

Is it doing anything when you move the lever up before the click?
Also you probably have the distronic system in your car which works with the cruise and could be causing some problem..

Your "soft" clicking up right? I'm sure your aware of this already but just to clarify when you move the lever up BEFORE it clicks is when it should increase 1mph at a time. Only when the lever moves past the "click" does it increase in increments of 5mph.
Is it doing anything when you move the lever up before the click?

Nothing before the click as soon as you go up it adds 5 mph even if you go real slow. I do not have distronics as far as I know. The way I drive it would be stopping the car all the time.. I know when I bring the car into the dealer when I get home he will say it works fine because car will be not heated up from driving.

How is it at holding your speed? Any issues with that?
Set and resume are the same motion - pulling the level towards you. If you've already set a cruise speed but then used the brake to suspend cruise, then pulling the stalk to you would just resume the old speed. Pushing the lever away is cancel and that should clear the memory of the last set speed. Try that and see if it allows you to set a new cruise speed rather than restore the old one.

If I cancel and resume at a different speed, I hit the stalk up or down for the full "click" that they're talking about above. That sets the new cruise speed at whatever the current speed is, for me.
So, for example, set initial cruise by pulling lever towards me, cancel by pushing it away, speed up, set new cruise speed by pushing down (or up) a full click on the lever.
I think the "soft" click will also set the speed to whatever the current speed is under any circumstance besides being already engaged, in which case it "should" go up or down in increments of 1mph.

The fact that pushing it away does not clear the speed and turn off the cruise control leads me to believe its a switch issue..

I don't believe it is a switch issue. It happened to me too. After setting up the cruise control for a certain speed, and when cancelled and wanted a different speed, it would go to the old speed. Not sure why, and really did not pay attention to it.

Well drove the car from Knoxville to half way up Indiana. Tried to use cruise again and found it still would not let you set to a different mph after pushing forward to clear. About every 8th or 9th attempt it would work. But I did find out that if you barely go up or down it will move only 1 mph up or down buy you have to barely Touch it. On another thing the tire came up on the dash it said 33,34,34,34. I stopped and put 36 pounds in all 4 tires. The tire thing on dash is still on. Called Motor werks in barrington and they said bring it in they may have to factory reset. Asked about the cruise and the service guy had no idea what to do except to make an appointment and bring it in. Told him I would call when I get back home in a couple of days.
