It worked but took about 1/2 hour to suck oil out from the engine.

Then bought an electric piston pump. This lasted two changes.

Bought another electric pun that broke after one change.

Then bought the MityVac and have done 4 oil changes with it. So very easy as it takes the whole oil volume in it in just 5 or so minutes. And I don't see it would fail as no oil runs thru the pump itself. Yes, it is a hand pump but does not take much effort at all.

The other very easy jobs for you are spark plugs and air filters.

thanks Arrie , so that mityvac worth at the end huh? i was eye ballin some pumps on ebay , was gonna buy a cheap one for $20 but decided to hold on for now , but this http://www.ebay.com/itm/350906728143?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT would be ideal i think.

spark plugs and V belt are next

And Mityvac also makes an air powered evacuator, the MV7300, for about $20 more than the basic hand pump model MV7400, or you get the MV7201 which is hand pump but also injects oil/lube which could be handy for the transmission refill, for about $30 more than the hand pump model.

Mine is 9qt capacity and it woks both ways. Way better than any electronic pump I used. All oil fits in it so I suck the old oil out, fill the car with new oil and then fill the emptied oil bottles with the old oil and take back to Wally World.

Depends on the state laws. Most states say that places that sell oil have to take back the old oil to recycle it. I think CA uses certified collection centers and many of them appear to be places that also sell oil.

For those who change their own oil, does this in any way invalidate the CPO warranty? Just wondering if the dealer would try and claim a repair won't be covered if services were not done at the dealer.

Thanks in advance! Just got my 2014 E350 3 days ago, and am loving it. First time MB owner!

i always try to the suction method from the dipstick but im sure the drain method is better as it uses gravity.
my question is, do i need to have an O ring for the oil sump plug handy just in case or do I automatically replace it or i shouldnt worry? im gonna try the drain method on my sedan soon so yeah...

Only reason would be if you had an oil related failure and you couldn't prove that you did the oil change with the correct oil. If you have records of you purchasing the correct oil and filter, there is no reason for them to deny coverage. And that's only if the failure was specifically related to an oiling issue. Anything unrelated they can't blame on your lack of service.
