E 300 AMG-Line diesel-Hybrid - 2021
new lease coming up - what are you thoughts on these options?
I'm starting to look for my next lease which is coming up in a few months.
I'll be getting a diesel automatic like I have now
I'm wondering/hesitating about some options,
and trying to understand some others.
(I will have to juggle a bit in order to stay within our company's budget)
I Would appreciate any feedback you might have on the following:
1 )should I go for the 200 or 220 ? (right now I have a 220)
I am not a fast driver at all, but I understand that a 200 is
a bit underpowered with an automatic?
2) beige or black leather/interior? (I have black now)
this is of course a taste matter but as I'm leaning towards beige
I wonder if this does not get easily dirty?
3) air body control or dynamic body control
Who has experience with either system? should I get it and if so which one?
4) widescreen: Nice feature, but what advantage does it really have?
5) pack distronic plus / drive pilot
This seems a great feature but does it REALLY work as good
as they advertise?. doing "nothing in a traffic jam almost sounds to good to be true...
6) pack conform acoustic
not sure if that's what it's called in English, but basically
it means they soundproof the interior. is it worth it?
7) air purifying / perfume
I don't care about the perfume (which is F'in expensive btw),
but this ionising feature seems nice...?
Thanks beforehand

cheers.
re distronic plus: can u advise how it works exactly? I understand that you
wil have to touch the steering wheel every now and then, or is it pretty much
autonome?
The acoustic pack has nothing to do with music but seems to make the car quieter,
but I wonder if that's just "on paper"?
Does anyone have experience with air body control or dynamic body control?
The funny things it that my dealer is unable to give me a proper answer on either
of the option, saying that hardly anyone ever orders them..???

It's a new car so it's going to be hard to find anyone with any experience on it. Plus most people on here are in the US and we don't even have those models in the US.
But the dealer is probably right about distronics, it's a very rare option not seen too often in older car models. Seems like it's starting to become more common now as other manufacturers have it as an option on their regular cars and their cars are much cheaper than MB. Distronics just meant you didn't have to hit the brakes once in a while as it automatically maintains the distance between the car in front of you. For not touching the steering wheel, other options come into play like lane assist.
In general most people stayed away from air body/dynamic body control as it was expensive to repair. I think those are also new as they used to go by other names like airmatic or active body control. But if it's a lease, you mind as well go ahead and get them as it should all be covered under the warranty. Unless you were planning on buying the car after the lease.

Making the car quieter makes the speakers more effective, it's why people dynamat their cars when they put in high end sound systems. If you're not getting the Burmester sound system with your car I wouldn't bother getting the acoustic package either.
As for the distronic plus, the car will stop, go, and slow down for you automatically. It makes traffic more bearable. I don't think it steers for you though, there's an addition called steering assist, maybe that steers for you.

I pretty much know what I'm getting now except for DRIVE PILOT
I read mixed things about it's usefulness.
Is there anybody here that has this as an option and can let me know their experience?

1) get the biggest engine available, of course!
2) black interior, I hate beige it shows every speck of dirt, but I buy used and keep them a long time. If it's just a lease, then get what appeals to you. I do like the black carpets with the dark brown seats if available.
3) I would never touch the fancy body/air/dynamic stuff, but again, if only leasing short-term it would be covered under warranty for repair. Exception - dynamic seats are amazing.
4) ???
5) Try it first, probably good if you sit in straight-line traffic a lot, or do a lot of long-distance highway driving. I saw a review on Motortrend TV show saying the lane assist tends to wander back and forth between the lines, construction zones would definitely present a challenge. You can only take both hands off the wheel for a limited time. Take out the parking sensors if possible, they are annoying if you are a good driver and know how to park a car.
6) I find the interior of my W212 already quiet enough, seems like overkill, no need for this.
7) no way

Cheers for the feedback
I'm indeed going with black leather because beige/white seems
to be a b*tch to keep clean. apparently just sitting on it with jeans will cause stains.. crazy!
air body control is fantastic according to the dealer, but unfortunately he does not have a car
in stock with this feature (in Europe you order your car and dealers don't have a stock)
But as it's a 3 year lease I think i'll just go for it
Drive pilot monitors your steering and adjusts when need.
(although it can drive by itself for a minute or so)
it's definitely not a self driving system like tesla, and apparently they do this
on purpose to keep the driver alert at all times.
There are plenty of reviews to find but I really would like to hear from someone who actually has it before deciding.
It's an expensive option/gadget at 2300 eur.
The wide screen (it's optional here) turns the 2 displays into one big screen
and fully digital. so the speedometer is also "projected". Maybe in the US this is standard?

Just an FYI, I have beige leather in both my cars. One is real leather and it's fine. The other is MB-Tex and it's also fine. No trouble keeping it clean, just a standard wipe down with a leather cleaner. Plus mine is way older than your car, on a 3 year lease, it won't matter. Woolite and water works pretty well, not sure if you have that in Europe, but any leather cleaner should work. I don't clean it that often, maybe a couple times a year just to get conditioner into the leather. I'm on the flip side, I don't like black because it's too hot in the summer.

Interesting, its actually the sales rep who advised me against light leather.
I'll give it some more though as I do like a light interior.
I live in the south of France so I know what you mean by "hot seats" lol
