Smile Parking sensors install

Hello guys,
I have recently bought myself 2011 w212 E- Class. It's a base model without Parktronic and things like that but the lack of parking sensors was a huge deal for me. I thought that was standard for a Mercedes-Benz of that age, but the car was in a great shape so I that really didn't bother me. Now I want to install them. My plan is to order OEM-like (Real OEM is way too much money) sensors and pay for the install. I would like to know is rear bumper removal really neccesary for parking sensors install? Can it be done just by removing trunk panels on the inside? Thanks a lot guys!

Consider the al priority "parking sensors" total setup will cost around 1200.00. Did I mention their other purpose is the fact they are the most advanced laser speed enforcement protection on the market?

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I believe they are ultrasonic and don't use laser so I don't see how that would apply to speed enforcement. They also shut off when you're going faster than a certain speed, I think 11mph. Both my cars have them. They weren't a standard option and not too common actually, you have to look for the sensors in the bumper and most cars you see don't have them. They're also slightly slow to respond, people will walk in front of the car when you're stopped at a crosswalk and the sensors will light up a second or two after they go by.

+1 on being ultrasonic , and turning off after a certain speed (at least it was like that on my e60 i believe over 15-20 miles)
dont have them in my 550 but i believe if you would wanna make it work its gonna take a lot of money , a lot of work (would have to remove bumpers and install harness)
and some coding.

Not worth the cost IMO. Bought the 14 without sensors, then had second thoughts and priced putting them in, informally quoted by dealer at around $3800 for OEM equipment and install by dealer, that's with existing bumpers, using cut holes for sensors. Nixed.

1. the insides of the rear bar/bumper CAN NOT be accessed by removing the panels on the rear boot/trunk.

2. considering #1, i would pay a professional to do it.

3. is it cost effective and would it work as good?

4. why do people buy a less optioned mercedes and think that they will just go to pepboys and have it upgraded? its always more complicated than it looks. these are well engineered cars and not civics.

Yep, there's lots of thread like that on here, people who want to put in navigation, bixenons, parktronic, keyless go, folding rear seats etc. (I don't think I've seen one for someone who wanted to put in a pano roof yet.) A lot cheaper to just buy the car with the option you want, but it can take a while for it to pop up. I knew I wanted those and just waited til one showed up.

Sure, the MB is well engineered, but have you delved into the civic? Styling may not be my cup of tea, but they are well done ngineered cars also.

I purchased all the parts needed brand new from Mercedes including new controllers, parking sensors, wiring, dash, etc

Do to health, I am not going to do it. If anyone is interested, contact me. It is not cheap and there are lots of boxes. My car is black so the new bumpers are black and the sensors have been painted black and are mounted in the new bumpers. The interior is tan and the dash with the cutout is tan. You will have to bring down the headliner to install the rear display but I have the instructions.

As a standalone system, the reviews indicate it works... amazes me the price they can sell them for.

My concern would be, you drill the holes in the bumper... a couple years down the road a sensor goes out. Will this kit still be available? Are the sensors from other kits compatible for similar size?
