BMC air filter $300????
I was looking for the BMC air filter for my 2014 E350 and can't believe the price. $300 for an air filter? Are these things made from Platinum or some other exotic material. They are also very hard to find in the US and Renntech is one of the few.

Absolutely agree!! This subject is well covered in the AMG forums. Air filter upgrades do very little but offer marginally better filtration, fewer replacements and perhaps more noise with no other mods to the car/intake. Of course, if the filter you are replacing is dirty the difference will be noticeable. I only upgrade my filters because I can clean and re-oil carefully (check the threads for this) my K&N or BMC (I've had both) rather than replace. The technically inclined will tell you that there is no performance difference whatever between them and that using the OEM filter and changing it as specified will better protect your engine and preserve its longevity than the others. Of course, an improperly re-oiled BMC or K&N filter will most likely foul you MAF (check the threads).
