Rebuilding a 2011 E550; In limp mode help; pic inside

Hey guys so this is my first mercedes benz. Purchased it with a front end collision will post pics in am.

Gorgeous car will be my new project. So the airbags are blown, radiator and condenser are damaged.

Im trying to get the airmatic to work but cant figure it out. States car is in limp mode. Code reader Autel says "compressor is locked - car in limp mode"

I have tried to clear all the codes but car remains in limp mode. Will having blown airbags cause the car to remain in limp mode? Will unplugging the SRS module do the trick?

I will be replacing everything back to oem but want to be able to move the car with the airmatic working vs car being slammed to the ground.

I would highly suggest you invest in a Mercedes STAR diagnostic computer/multiplexor. You can find them for around 500-1000.00 It will be the best investment you can get as it will allow you to reset everything and without it, you are going to be chasing a LOT of gremlins that the Autel isn't likely to be able to accomplish. I know Maxisys really stepped up their game on the benz capabilities but it still doesn't match a proper star setup with engineering mode.

+1 on the diagnostic system. It's the only way to work on one of these.

Also, the compressor for the airmatic is located under the driver's side front bumper. It may have been whacked pretty hard looking at that bumper....

i think compressor is in the trunk , drivers side under some panels.. might be the air lines that go around engine compartment

Thanks guys for the heads up. No matter how many codes I cleared with autel I was unable to resolve the issue.

I will have to look into a STAR diag unit, I really like this E550 and may keep it as a daily.

Any one have a link or access to WIS download? Im slowly realizing that along with a STAR diag will be the mecca to figure out this car

Also just curious, how difficult is it to work around with a STAR diagnotic computer?

From my experience it's not too bad. It's less intuitive than an autel, but much more powerful. It's also a bit slower. There are many necessary functions that you will likely need for this project to be cost and time effective that without one will be very very hard. There was an 's class thread by some Russian kid that was a few hundred paged long on here and very comical. He refused to get one.

If you mean how hard will it be to work around using one? It MAY be possible, but time/throwing parts at the car will exceed the cost of a star system...
