2014 E350 Sport ECO Start/Stop Issue

Hi,
I'm trying to determine if there is an issue with the ECO start/stop on my E350.
I got this a couple of months back at 17K miles, CPO from dealer with the extended CPO warranty.
The ECO indicator used to be green almost always and whenever i came to a stop, the engine used to stop, and restart when i took my foot off the brake.
Now, it seems the indicator is yellow a lot more than it is green. It does eventually turn green, but only after a few miles of driving, and after a couple of stop/starts, goes back to yellow again.
Is this normal, or is it an issue and should i have the dealer take a look at it?
Thanks!

G

That's how mine works also... there are several factors that impact Eco on/off, in the on-line manual. https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...edan_Wagon.pdf

Sounds normal, especially if you only do shortish journeys and the weather is cold.

Thanks for the replies. The weather has not been cold, usually in the 60s-70s. But most of my journeys are short, 5-7 miles, so that may be the reason.

I'm old enough to remember when your car quit running at an intersection you panicked. In line GM 6 cyl in the 70's did this frequently.

Have a similar issue. The dealer has had two attempts to fix. Updated gearbox software, then replaced aux battery. Going back tomorrow for a 3rd attempt. Think the system is over engineered personally.

You should just get rid of the feature. Never have to worry about it that way.

On my last E350 the ECO "feature" rarely operated. After the auxiliary battery was changed, it would operate only after driving 10 or so miles before the light on the dash would change to green. The ECO would operate for a couple of cycles, and the dash light would go to yellow. In my situation the more miles driven, the more ECO would function.

Had a module put in car to remove it. Now they say there is a fuse in the trunk that you disconnect and it stops working.

I'm having the same problem with mine. In the last 2 weeks I've noticed that it barely ever turns green. Even before it wouldn't always turn green.
Whenever i come to a stop at a stoplight, it's usually yellow. If i let go of the brake pedal and let the car roll for 1-2 feet the ECO button turns green. Like seriously? What games in this thing playing with me?!?
Any suggestions on how to get this fixed? Can the dealer fix this problem?

I do not think the dealer can fix it. Just get rid of it. Call mid city engineering in Chicago and buy there unit and have an audio shop install it. All together the cost is about $300.

Yes, while they work on the update, they should update it in a way, only when HOLD feature is used, the engine should shut off, not when I slowed down to 0 for a yield or a stop sign..!

Basically, I believe these electronics, like distronic plus, etc runs on aux battery, it needs to be charged/maintained/replaced.
When I got the car, which was in the lot for a while, it had the same issue, after turning off the electronics for few miles of driving, the battery got replenished it never had that issue again, until, I drive short distances and had gold starts every time.
If you have a garage, use battery tenders.

That is correct. Some w212's had bad auxiliary batteries (mostly early 2014's). Mine was just replaced under warranty and all the eco/nanny electronics work just fine. Before that I used to charge my aux. battery every 3 months or so.

I got that load tested, and MB said both the batteries are fine.
