I've heard a very subtle cricket like sound, but I can't figure where it's coming from in the cabin. It does not seem to be dependent on blower speed, this was my first thought, but doesn't seem so. Maybe I'll try the clean just for fun if I get a little free time. Blower motors are generally very simple to remove and replace. For now I just keep the radio up. It also seems to come and go with weather, mostly hearing the noise when weather is colder. Thankfully that's not so often in Florida.

I did mine today (and replaced the cabin filter as well). Used an aftermarket that was cheaper and it took me about 20 minutes to do.

Only problem I had was the zip tie holding the harness to the blower. Bloody old world craftsmen! ROFL!

I've also started to have a mild chirp from the blower. I hear it when turning right and while braking. It's not that the brake directly causes the chirp, its that the braking causes the car to shift its position or balance, or whatever you want to call it, and there's the chimp. Much like turning right does that too.

At some point- probably spring, I'll replace the blower motor-

Yeah, mine's come back under certain circumstances after a year and two applications of oil. It also 'whines' at higher RPMs. Just gonna have to get another one, there's a Behr Hella one for £109 in the UK which is OEM, just without the MB markup, so I'll probably get that.

You do rock indeed! It sounds like it's just the same as it was. In my 09 and that was an easy job. . I'll order the motor and Chase the cricket out of my sedan. :-)!

Note: you only need to remove the glove box if you have a model 204.

Thank you to everyone that added attachments and comments from their own experience.

Can I ask everyone which aftermarket brand you decided yo replace the original blower motor? Prices range from $80 to $150 from what I can see. Any issues?

Thanks!

Did my blower motor too and I also had black dust. That’s the anti-chirp dust which got out of the motor

Dont change the part if it is only squeaking

Smile Chirping Blower Motor Replacement

If you're going in there at all, replace the darn motor. It's not real expensive as the other folks have said and there'll never be a need to go in there again. Either you ore the car will die first!!!

Good thread. Im having the same issue. 2014 W212 E350. I followed all the instructions in this thread and the other thread on blower motors and it was a pretty easy replacement to DIY. However, now my entire AC system is not working.

I used this part as the replacement: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...hoC_qYQAvD_BwE

My question is.....Did I just get the wrong part for my car? It was a bit confusing so I used FCP's validator and thats what it recommended. Should I have gotten the same part as konigstiger recommended to OP?

I'm about to reinstall the old unit just to verify I didnt fry anything.

Make sure you made all the connections to the fan, it's been a while, but I think there were two or three connections. If the old fan was still partially working it makes sense to install the old motor. BTW, a year after I replaced the fan I had to replace the fan motor speed resister, the fan would only blow at low speed.

Good call. I went back to and checked my connections and there was one slightly loose wire plug. Everything is working great now. Thanks for the response

You divided an conquered... great!

You'll enjoy working on your MB car. These cars are really well built for quick service.

Lots of opportunities to make them run well with couple spares and a helpful collective bunch of friendly members.
