Sound System Question from Newbie
Just got a 2014 E350. Is it best to load an iPod and connect it to the system instead of messing with a SD disk or CDs or loading the memory? Not sure which way would be the best to accommodate a large library of tunes. Suggestions are appreciated from those of you with more experience on which way to go. Thx!

I'm not sure what you call "large" but I have done just fine using USB memory sticks. I just create a big playlist for the particular trip. I can then fine tune what I take for each trip, and over-write it later.
My biggest frustration in these things is the lousy dynamic range and frequency response necessitated by using the .mp3 file format.

I have a sandisc SSD USB drive tucked into the center console (under a tray), filled with 4,000 files (max you can use) of MY music - and it works great. Being SSD, I don't worry about it being bounced around.
leaves the SD slot for those times when the passenger seat isn't empty.

I don't use the HD or any USB attachments anymore. I just use Tidal and play it through my bluetooth. I'll never be able to collect more music then I can find on a service like Tidal, Spotify, Applemusic etc. Saves me effort and I can create multiple playlist on the fly.

File Structure? -
the CD ripper (dBpoweramp) allows me to set what info I want ripped, I select Title, Artist, and Genre only, dropping track no. This gives me an alpha list of song titles by album
on my SSD, I setup 8 folders, (Classical, Country, Rock, Big Band, New Age... etc). Once a month I'll bring it in from the car and update each folder.
When I plug it back into the console, takes a couple min for the car to read them all, but after that, I just select USB device, then pick the folder I want. You can drop down to the mp3 button and pick Random track, (or even random folder)
That's about all the searching I do
