Besides low mileage and condition, when selling the MB, how can you best calculate add ons like Mid City remote start and built in Radar? Can you get anything for them?

Unlike factory options, most add ons do not add value to the car, unless you find that particular buyer that happens to be looking for the those add ons. When I shop for a used car, I tell the seller I would rather have them remove their ons due to the fact that most of them are not to my liking or I find them in bad taste. When I add aftermarket parts to my cars, I assume nothing in return when I sell my car.

I take them off and sell them if possible but realize they add nothing to the resale value. Actually many will detract or shrink your market. I don't want a slammed Mercedes rolling on 20's. If you put an exhaust or CAI there's an assumption you drive the crap out of it.

Most modifications are personal touches. If it were factory options that you added on it would possibly add value, otherwise just consider it a loss. Unless you do want to tear it apart to get the mods out. The individual mods may have some limited resale value on their own.

Not only will after market add ons not increase the value much, sometimes an add-on will decrease the value of a car. ie. custom wheels, custom upholstery, custom paint scheme etc.

I don't think there are many mods that add any value. Maybe a new engine, but that also raises red flags as people wonder why it needed it an engine. About the only thing that might help a little is maybe new tires. Basically the only thing that will raise value is if it's an option in the book that you're adding. Most options aren't even listed in the book as adding any value, the basics are the sport package, driver assistance and the rear entertainment package. Those are the only options on nadaguide.com. And it would cost you a lot more to add those than you'd get back in any resale.

IMO one of the best add ons for value is being able to show a complete history of required maintenance for the vehicle.

+1 on adding value by having all the maintenance records. I also agree that add-ons are current owner specific. IMO!

I agree with all of the above posts and have experienced this myself, selling my modded C55 AMG and C43 AMG. I enjoyed the mod's for years, paid a ton for them, but they only made my cars harder to sell, with no added value and possibly decreased the value. I didn't have the time or patience to remove the mod's, restore the car to stock and resell the mod's separately. That is the only way to recoup some of what you invested. 99% of the time a car is a depreciating asset. Mod's accelerate the depreciation. The only reason for mods is to increase your enjoyment of your car and what you've added to it.

New tires are the way people try to hide alignment problems, usually because of a serious accident. Anytime I see them I look for fresh bodywork and unibody straightening signs.

In a similar vein, does debadging detract from a car's value?

Some of us think it looks cleaner / better debadged, but I wonder if semi-savvy buyers will wonder if the trunk lid / front quarter panels / car / etc has been repainted and the badges weren't reapplied?

I would think debadging would be more likely to go unnoticed. Just my opinion.

Depends on the buyer. I think most people would prefer a car that wasn't modified much, you get the impression that maybe they were beat on or they did too many mods that you won't be able to figure out later instead of being a factory setup. That's why I tend to look for bone stock cars. Having maintenance records would also help or if not, at least all work done at the MB dealer where they can pull up the VMI.

I would think that most buyers want a car as close to stock as possible.

Take off any aftermarket items and sell them separately.
