Remote start for '14 E350
Shopping around for a '14 E350. Remote start is kind of a big thing for the wife. Looks like even the cars with mBrace, the remote start function doesn't appear until 2016. Are there any options for remote start on a '14?
The BMW and Audi dealers just came right out and said "don't bother".
Thanks,
Darel

Tested, reliable and possibly one of only plug n play kits for our cars.
I bought a used mid city unit on ebay and because my car is 2013 and has no keyless entry, my installation was literally unpluging a plug on the rear of ignition switch and connecting it via remote start unit. Yours might be harder depanding on how well equiped your ride is.

edit: looks likes 2014 requires a jumper to be soldered in due to newer security system on your car. Here are installation instructions for your car. https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...0ZBbGRZTHVpTkk

It looks like the Mid-City unit requires Keyless Start or Keyless Go. None of the cars we are looking at have that. Are there any other options?

OK, I think I might need some help deciphering the Keyless package to make this work.
Question 1: are Keyless Start and Keyless Go two separate packages? Or is it just one "Keyless Go" package? If two, what's the difference?
Question 2: So in order to get the Mid-City remote start kit, I either need to already have EITHER of the Keyless packages (if there are two separate packages) or THE Keyless package (if there's only one). There are two kits it seems, one is $700 and is if you have (one or both?) the Keyless package, and one for an eye-watering $2,400 that basically adds the Keyless Start package plus the remote starter function. Is this correct? Or am I missing another remote start option somewhere?
I'm sure the easiest option is to just find a car with the Keyless package(s?) but we actually DON'T want the pushbutton starter and it's not easy to find alongside other options we DO want. But if is saves me almost two thousand bucks down the road...jeez...
Thank you!

I think the difference between the MidCity packages (but I'm not sure) is that the lesser expense goes with KeylessGO (i.e. less things to install to get it to work), and the more expensive one adds the KeylessGO functionality (I think that's what you were thinking as well)... as for the push-button start, you can take the button off (just a plastic cover that says Stop | Start) and use the fob like any other key.
