Mines is always right over the 80 as well once it's warmed up. I think this is normal behavior. Was yours lower then 80 at any point when warmed up?

Another "same here" just slightly above 80
Funny thing is I never know the temp gauge was in Celsius until I read this post. Sitting in my car now I clearly see the C°

It's never below 80 when it's warmed up and been on the road a bit . It always stays within that picture I posted. It may go up a tad higher but not much more

High 80's to 90 centigrade is where mine is parked all of the time. Yours is completely normal. If it should drop to mid 70's and you get a CEL, then your thermostat needs replacing more than likely. It defaults to full open.

Normal. I had a similar question few weeks back, and i think Belarus answered it. I did further research and learned that MB gauge temperature is showing the actual engine temperature and that is why it is numbered (40,80,120), unlike Japanese cars (Low, High) . So with MB you can see the temperature ranges between the 82-90C.

Recently, I've had the thermostat replaced as the system reported an error code.
I've also noticed some unusual behaviour in the way the engine was warning up. Sometimes it took 2 minutes to get to operating temperature and sometimes it took about 15 minutes. Pay attention to that.

Not knowing what engine you have, what is temperature outside and where is your right foot at the moment - you can't say it is normal or not.
Different engines do have different thermostat set and act differently.
My 1999 E300DT would keep 78C when cruising in 102F weather.
Gasoline engines do have higher temp on average, but that again, is engine specific.
