Yeah you def. need to replace those or refinish. Same thing happen to mines when I bought it. I see so many E Classes with extensive curb rash. I chalk it up to the average age of owners and their eye sight going at the point in life. Sorry just joking but kinda not LMAO.
I run a staggered set 245 FR 265 Rear, so hopefully someone else can come along and advise you about the specs you're looking at. Good luck.

I run 275 in the back with a spacer
and also have a spacer in front. , and from what i can see , 255 should not be a problem , at least with airmatic suspension.
*might be wrong though*

I definitely think it's an aesthetic improvement over the 245s, but the downward angle I shot the pic (it's a bit tight in my garage) doesn't show very well that it does, indeed, look better than the stock 245s.

Funny you mention the potholes. One of the reasons I chose to go 255 and the same aspect ratio is to decrease the likelihood of rim damage. Two of the stock 245 Contis blew out because of heavy rain + night + unseen mother of all potholes. Wife and I had to flatbed it home at nearly midnight ...annoyed!!
So the modest increase in sidewall, plus higher inflation, and I am hoping for better! I notice no difference in handling ...it is only 10mm, afterall. But as I had mentioned, the wheelwell looks more filled, and due to the increased width there is a little "more tire" to hedge against curb rash as the 245s clearly exposed the lip of the rim. Win win, IMHO

Too bad with my 15 mm spacers 255 isnt doable. Or is it? From what i can see with 245 there is no more room for a wider tire
I would hope that it wouldnt affect the ride.. at least in a worse way.
well good to know. Thank you for your input

question here. What is the red tape holding down your parking mat? I need to fasten mine down.

The red tape is gaffers tape ...1000x better than duct tape. It is cloth and sticks like crazy. I've been using it for maybe 20 years now ...indispensable for track days. Way back when, the only place to find real gaffers tape was a pro camera shop. But these days, the internet is at your command.
