2010 Audi A4
Looking to buy a 2014 E350 4Matic

Hello, I'm currently looking for too buy a 2014 E350. I wanted to reach and see if there any thing I should watch out for when shopping around. I'm currently in a APR stage 2 2010 Audi A4 with the 2.0t and it's been a pretty long journey. Some of you may know 2009-2012 A4's came with bad piston, timing tensioners, turbo and injectors which in the end added up to costly repairs. From my understanding, these engines are pretty stout? I'm looking at 2014 e350s with the LED package. Are there any other features that are must haves? Currently in my market (Chicago) I'm seeing CPOs go anywhere from $35,000 to $40,000 with around 28,000 miles with the LED package...thanks in advance for any help/advice and I look forward to eventually helping this community out!

2014 E550-sold 😩

Check out the inventory at Mercedes Benz of Hoffman Estates. This is a nicely equipped 2015, but is not CPO. There are reasons they may not be able to CPO the car, but you can speak with them about it. Get a car as fully equipped as possible and realize it may take some time to do. I paid well under $40K for a fully loaded 2014 E550 4Matic with warranty and CPO for 2 years. Personally, I would move to looking at 550's if you are hovering around the $35K mark. The 550 is a beast and the difference in mpg is very minimal for the performance boost.

I will second what Key08 stated. I too was looking for a 2014 e350 but wanted certain features that were hard to find on a 350 so I made the move to the 550 and boy am I glad I did.

2010 Audi A4
Thanks for the responses and this is why I love forums lol. I go from searching for E350s to 550s. When I'm searching, i see CPOs 550s for 40k plus with higher mileage. So both of you obtained 550s under 40k with lower mileage and CPO? You both are right... ill get a 350 and love it and start modding it then start regreeting that i didnt get the better performance version. Pretty much the scenario with my A4. What are the must have options?

APG, I'll look at your thread after work. I'm starting to get excited for the search. Hopefully it's sooner than later! I'll have to find the spec sheet with all the options for 2014 and 2015 E550s and start doing some homework. I just wanted to get a feel for what others wanted when shopping and or what they regret not getting with the car.

Post #2871 should pop up. If not, just scroll to 2871
This is my Designo Diamond White Metallic and the data card is shown with the options if you scroll down. This car has pretty much every option including the illuminated door sills and the trunk comfort box.
It is a very rare breed, but you can find them. The nice thing about the 550 is many options are standard, including leather. People diss the 550 because it may be perceived as a gas guzzler, when in reality it gets 2mpg less on average than the 350. That equates to less than $200/yr at 15,000 miles. The TTV8 can also be tuned to over 550 HP very easily. I was debating the tune, but I am looking at preserving my warranty and buying a GT350 now to play with.

To add on to what Key08 stated here is the 2014 E Class Sales Brochure that I used when I was looking for mine: https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...edan-Wagon.pdf

Most of the e350's out there are coming off lease and are rarely heavily optioned, but they are out there. Like Key said the 550's come standard with more and that was the reason I went that route.

So first test drive an 350, then a 550 and determine where you want to start. Then decide if its options you want or exterior color, because it will be difficult to get both. If its options you want then start with the packages. Premium 1 pretty much comes standard so don't worry about that. Lighting Package gives you the full LED lights with active curve illumination and adaptive High Beam assist. (Basically the headlight turn to follow the curve of the road and the high beams come on and off automatically) Parking Assist Package gives you Parktronic and surround view camera system (the car will parallel park itself, proximity sensors front and rear to aid in parking, and the surround view camera gives you a top down view of your car and its surroundings) KEYLESS-Go Package (keep key in your pocket, doors will unlock automatically when you put your hand on door handle and lock when you touch them, Automatic trunk closer, trunk will also open with a "kicking" motion under the bumper) Lane Tracking Package (Blind spot assist will warn you if you want to change lanes and someone is in your blind spot, Lane Keep Assist will vibrate the steering wheel if you cross a lane marking (dashed or solid) Driver Assistance Package (This is by far the hardest package to find but probably the most useful in my opinion) Radar cruise control will keep you at predetermined distance (that you choose) from the car in front of you. When the car ahead of you slows, so does your car automatically. Great for highway driving and bumper to bumper traffic. Brake Assistance Plus will watch and brake for pedestrians, Active Blind Spot and Lane Keep Assist, is similar to the Lane Tracking Package above but now the car will apply the brakes to pull you back into the correct lane automatically.

Now for the individual options; There are Luxury and Sport Models in the 350 model, the 550 is Sport only. 4matic (Mercedes AWD) is an option on the 350 but standard on the 550 (however most 350s come with 4matic) 18" AMG twin 5‑spoke wheels are standard on the 550, optional on the 350. Most 350s come with 17" Rims, Panoramic roof is the dual sunroof, if you don't want this you get a standard single sunroof. You have to drive a car with pano roof to get the full effect. Some people hate them, some love them. I personally love mine. Active ventilated front seats this turns a fan on that sends the ambient surrounding air through the seats. If the A/C is on it will be sort of cool, if the heat is on it will be warm. Not as warm has the heated seats however. This is an option that requires the leather seats which is standard on the 550 where as the 350 comes with MB Tex which is Mercedes Faux leather. Active Multi contour driver seat with massage the side bolsters will inflate as your take a turn to keep you from rolling out of your seat. Feels like someone is pushing at your rib cage when you turn (probably one of my favorite features and everyone who drives my car loves it too) There is also a 4 position massage feature for the driver only. Great for longs drives! Split folding rear seats pretty self explanatory, Sport steering wheel with flat-bottom design 3 spoke steering wheel with flat bottom, Heated steering wheel twist a knob and your steering wheel will heat up for a short time, Wood/leather steering wheel half wood, half leather steering wheel, Household-type 115- volt AC power outlet gives you a power outlet between the front seats that the rear passengers (or driver) can use, Comfort Box is a trunk installed organizer that is pretty cool.

There are 5 interior colors, 3 types of wood trim, and 12 exterior color choices. So there you have it, now that I have poisoned your brain enjoy piecing together what you want

So for me, my must haves were: Sport model, with 4matic, 18" AMG rims, leather interior with ventilated seats and active multi contour driver seat (Right off the bat all those options are standard on the 550 so that made it much easier) I wanted all the Option packages, but couldn't find one with the Drivers Assistance Package (again very rare) I wanted the Pano roof, split folding seats and the 115v rear outlet. I also wanted Black exterior, black leather and black ash wood trim. I found a CPO 2014 E550 with 21,000 miles on it for right around $42,000 with 2 years free maintenance and an additional 2 years of CPO warranty for $2,000 with every option I wanted expect for the Drivers Assistance Package.

Again read my post on how I searched and what I went through to find what I have now.

Let me know if you have any further questions.....

One other point to add. The 2014-2016 350’s are all the same, the 2014 550 was the only year for the twin turbo 4.7L V8, I believe in 2015 it was rebadged as a e400 with a twin turbo V6.

The TTV8 was introduced in 2012, so the M278 engine was available from 2012-2014. Only the 2014 has the face-lifted look though, so if you want a face-lifted E550 that is the only year. A rare cat.

2016s have a newer version of COMAND. NTG 5.2 I think? Earlier facelift models get 4.7
