Heated Seat wiring

Drivers heated seat isn't working.

I activated the voltage/amp monitoring on the instrument cluster (phone pickup + ok while the ignition is on. see https://snapguide.com/guides/enter-s...cedes-e-class/ )

When activating the passenger heated seat, I could see the amps being drawn.
When doing the same on the drivers seat, the amps would get drawn cyclically meaning it would draw current for a second and then go down for a second and try to redraw the current. This cycling would go on for about 5 - 10 seconds before there would be no current draw at all and the lights would go off in the heated seat button.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the seats ?

Search the old threads. It's very common for the driver's heated seat to go out. Goes in hand with the seat cover seam getting ripped. You could probably fix both at the same time.

I did and saw that it was a common issue even on other models but I didn't find a wiring diagram.

I'm not sure how a wiring diagram is supposed to help. The standard repair is to just buy a new seat heater and replace it. The fault is inside the seat heater pad and it gets replaced all the time and it's fine afterwards.

But you can check this site to see what they have:

It looks like there is some box shaped controller under the seat that has several electrical plugins. I'll probably wind up measuring all the wires under there and figure out what they do since I can't seem to find a diagram.

I'd hate to buy and replace a heating pad and find out later its something else (button, wire, etc) that is causing the problem.

Pretty much most heating pad failures have been the pad, at least the early years. It's a good thing you have real leather, the MB-tex also ripped.

Be careful down there, seat also has an airbag.

Pretty sure its the heating pad that went bad , something i wanted to fix for 2 years but never got to it because it looks like a lot of work and im mostly unsure how to put the leather cover back on.. lol

the pad itself is about a 100 bucks , and it does look like plug n play , so if you got time and some skills thats doable , unless you wanna pay someone to do it for extra money

I think we had this discussion last year. Still haven't done mine, but mine is going to be more because I've got the ripped seat cover plus the pad. But I think an upholstery shop was going to be around $150. I think the problem was going to be the dynamic seat, I think you have to cut one of the air hoses and then get a connector to fix it afterwards, but all those parts are at MB.

I got Mb-Tex. My other car has real leather, but the 2nd car died so I couldn't be too picky about the replacement when this one popped up. At least it had P2 and the pano. Maybe I'll get it done in the next month or two, it hasn't really started to get cold yet so I'm not missing the seat heater.
