I'm wondering if anyone here has a Sprint Booster or Pedal Commander on their M278 engine?

I just came from a BMW M5 which had three different throttle maps (which made a night and day difference). In comparison, the throttle response on my CLS550 9G-Tronic seems like a slug in comparison... but not sure how much is turbo lag and auto transmission vs. my old car which was naturally aspirated v10 with sequential manual gearbox.

Maybe a Sprint Booster will tie me over until I get a tune. Maybe it will still help after a tune.

Any advice or thoughts welcome unless you're just going to tell me to push harder on the gas pedal... save your bandwidth.

So I have a 2010 e550 4matic and I was looking to buy a sprint booster. since the concensus is that the sprint booster has little to no effect on the v8, what are some options to have a better throttle response. Are there any options at all?

Going to get one of these , certain situations the pedal is a sloth !

It's not just more gas for less input but makes the throttle valve open quicker which gives the results.

Coupled with the three valeting modes which limit the throttle thus power and an anti theft dead pedal mode it's a sub £200 no brainer.

Who told you that?
I've got a Sprint Booster installed on my 2003 E500 with V8 motor and it makes a world of difference.

Same here, The car is totally different in a better way with the SB. I would not drive my car without it.

And the new SB has lots of settings to choose from, including the one that disables it and installation is super easy.

Best $300 you can spend for your car.

Im looking into getting a Mercedes C300. Maybe around the years 2008-2010. Not to sure how bad the maintenance costs are. Anyone have any opinions on that model? I had a Sprint Booster on my Acura and it worked really well. And usually you can find sales on sprintboostersales.com

I was just reading on the 2008-2009 C class. I'd go for a C350, full 1 sec faster 0-60 time and more standard options
The 350 engine is a good one.

If you read the various threads about this device, you'll see that "effective" is a matter of opinion.. All it does is change the curve of the electric signal from pedal to throttle body. I think my Biturbo M278 is already touchy on the gas, so I don't see a need for it, but my older CLK430 probably would have liked it.

if you read what it does, and understand exactly what it does, you won't expect something else and be disappointed. A lot of people like it because it gives exactly what they wanted and what they expected from it. I liked it on my car. And i'd get another one.

before you decide to get one look on the threads and read how it works on their website and watch youtube videos. https://www.sprintboostersales.com/How-It-Works.cfm

Yea I am aware of what it does and that is what I am interested in. I just thought I read that the same effect does not work on the e550, only the e350. I just needed clarification on that. I am happy with the power output I get now. Don't really care for much more but I want that soon as I hit the throttle. sometimes the power can be incredibly delayed and i'm not a fan of that.

that drive-by-wire.. especially in Mercedes and BMW. seems like they have it the worst. i hear the lag is really bad on toyota too. my acura to bad. but it definitely wiped it out. the response was as close to instant as you can get.

I'd save that money and put it on a ECU tune that will have a real HP increase. They're too expensive for what they are, unless you just really feel like there is a pedal lag and can't stand it. Basically you will get the same effect if you just drive it with some authority on the pedal, no *****-footing.

sometimes the 'feel' of a better drive is enough for a lot of people. yeah a sprint booster wont give you horse power. but it makes the drive feel damn good. it'd be cool if one fits all so i could try it on a bunch of different cars and compare.

Like I said in my earlier post, I would not drive my car without the SB after I saw how much it improved the driving pleasure and I also have the 2010 E550.. It takes the pedal lag away and makes the car totally different to drive in a better way. It may not give more HP but certainly feels it does.

Spend the $300 for it. You will not be disappointed, I guarantee it!
