I got mine from DKM Car Design. Mobile hotspot thru cell phone works almost flawlessly when internet connectivity is in question. The only gripe is that I have to manually switch on wifi on the unit every time the unit is powered on but that's just a press of a button. The unit does have a SIM card slot if you want to go that route but t's not necessary if you have mobile hotspot and unlimited data thru your mobile carrier.
Thanks, what do you think about this one I found on amazon
Hi, just installed a 4gb 64gb 10.25 system I'm my c207 ntg 4.0 and so far am very happy with it. I managed to avoid a lot of the problems people on here had encountered such as steering controls, sound problems etc. Although I still haven't managed to get the headunit back in place..
Was wondering if its a big job to install viper4android as the standard equaliser doesn't seem to be any good. Also every tine I press return on my dial to get out of the original ntg screen it seems to open Google maps. A minor irritation but one I'd like to fix. Thanks all. I Wouldnt have even bought it only for this thread and all its info.
The dimming at night function doesn't seem to work, it seems to stay the brightness day or night. Any one got any ideas?

Reason: Extra problem
I have an intermittent issue which is getting worse over time with mine. If anyone knows how to solve it that would be great and save me trying to diagnose a solution.
When I switch on the ignition the unit fires up fine. If I then turn the key to start the car the screen goes blank and sometimes it comes back on, other times it doesn't. Its getting more often it doesn't now. The unit is still up and running, its just the display not coming back on.
Had seen some posts a while ago where people had similar, and removing the black switch box in the loom fixed it for them. I have done this and still have the issue. If I pull the power from the screen and plug it back in it will come on, also if I leave it for a while with the ignition off it will then start up ok. Just turning the ignition on and off does not work.
Any thoughts?
So it's just the screen turning black? When it turns off and back on it's not going through a reboot or turn-on cycle, it just flashes back on immediately to whatever was on the screen? Can you recreate the on-off cycle every single time exactly in a certain sequence, or does it sometimes work and not work randomly?
Just thinking logically that should mean the screen uses 2 different power sources, one to run the units OS and one for just the screen itself. My first thought if sometimes it happens randomly then the power wire for the screen could be being pinched or loose at the plug when you squeeze all the cables back there. If you can recreate it every single time exactly without fault then it should be some connection or interference that wasn't hooked up properly.
Has anyone used one of these GPS antenna splitters for their install? Or have any opinions if it would be a good option?

Seems the idea is so you can use the factory navigation antenna for both the comand and android screen and not have to install the aftermarket antenna the unit comes with.
I think it's a good option since the factory antenna should theoretically have much better reception than the aftermarket one? As long as the connectors fit.

I did, but I bought off Amazon for less than 10 bucks. Works great. You need to adjust the location settings on the android side though to only use gps. Not cellular, wifi, or BT. Let the actual gps hardware do it

Are these guys (Carsara on aliexpess) allowed to take my picture and use it on their website?
I'm no lawyer but I've read up on this for my personal stuff. My interpretation is if the intent of the person/company is to use the material just to show an example of something then they would legally be allowed to use it without permission from the copyright owner. If they use the media to directly profit from it then it would not be allowed and you can send a cease and desist to take it down.
Can anyone who has installed one of these screens comment on the startup speed and general responsivness? Specifically, I'm interested in better understanding how quickly I can begin using CarPlay from the time I turn the car on, and what (if any) steps I need to take/buttons I need to press. I am hoping that things are as seamless as possible (e.g., I turn on the car, CarPlay automatically connects to my phone, music starts playing) without me having to press multiple icons on the screen or wait for the screen to load at startup.
Also, do the steering controls (previous track/next track) work in CarPlay mode, or do you have to change the track via the control knob/GUI? I'd likely get the 10.25 screen sold by DMP Car Design and would be installing into a 2014 W212 E63 AMG S Wagon. Any help, thoughts, and impressions would be appreciated!
Nice units, but for thel of me I can't find 1 image or video showcasing how Android auto looks and renders on this, all I see is carplay,
Could some one show a pic or a video of how Android auto looks and works on this?
honestly android auto is lame on these because you have a full tablet like experience, so why even mess with the android auto which is a very limited experience

The minute you start CarPlay, you don't have access to picking up audio on phone calls.
This is why I'm not in a hurry to start CarPlay.
Also, CarPlay picks only a small number of apps that operate.
I do have to admit that these operate 100%.
However, if one can get the tethering started right away, and not the CarPlay, then you CAN accept phone calls AND use whichever AP can correctly install on this unit.
Many cannot correctly install, due to the unforeseen resolution that this uses.
Startup speed is fine. The thing is that right after startup many times I put my car in reverse and the camera takes a few seconds to show in the interface.
However, now I have active guidance lines, so I accept this.

I have one, but for the life of me cannot my phone to connect to android auto, probably because the Bluetooth. Settings are non existent within apps, the only reason I like using android auto on it is because there is much, more functionality of the oem car buttons using Spotify,
it is not instantaneous as if it was an OEM installed unit. It takes a good 10 sec or more to reach CarPLay.
As for the steering whell controls, no don't they all work using the steering wheel, pretty much all you can do is to do Vol up and down. Yes to the OEM knob.
I've been on the fence about buying the Android Screen for two reasons I've read from current owners on (MB) Facebook Groups:
(1) The Navigation is a bit lagging from actual car's position. You make a left turn, the screen shows your left turn a few seconds later.
(2) Because it bypasses your OEM NTG system for audio, the actual audio quality of these Android units is sub-par from our current NTG unit.
Can anyone currently having this unit for some length of time chime in and offer your candid thoughts, now that you've had the unit for some time? Thanks in advance.

if you don't use the crappy antenna that comes with, and use a fakra splitter to use the oem antenna, the nav works beautifully.
re: the audio, I would not call it subpar as long as you use a noise isolator if there's an issue. Mine is wired directly to the car and have no audio issues at all.
have had my unit in for almost 2 years. As long as you don't treat it like a tablet and try to install 10000 apps it works great

Hi,
I have just installed a 10.25" Android 10 screen into my W212 E63 AMG. I purchased it from DMP and it is working well.
Can you provide more detail on the use of the "fakra splitter"?
How did you use this in your install to use the OEM navigation antenna?
So the single end of the splitter connects to the cable coming from the radio and then the two ends connect, one to the android head unit cable and one to the farka to SMA pigtail which then connects to the android head unit GPS SMA connector.
