"B"service costs?
My 2012 E350 is approaching 60,000 miles. My local MB dealer quoted me $1,200 for the B service/- Is that ballpark for a "B" service from a dealer for this sort of vehicle at this milage? I was advised the big ticket items were a brake fluid flush and new spark plugs.

Around me, the B service is about $360, exclusive of brake fluid and other stuff. Brake fluid runs about $120. Plugs about $600. Indy cost would be about half of that.

I knew the plugs were about 1/2 the cost of what I was quoted. Are plugs necessary at 60,000 miles? I've been able to get between 90,000 - 100,000 on plugs on other vehicle I have and do own. Then again, back in the day, when we used leaded gas, plugs were gone in a year.

I got my plugs done at 60k. I would double check the maintenance manual intervals for your model. If you have extended warranty coverage, you'll probably want to follow the book. If not, you could roll the dice if you want.
It might be a good time to look into a prepaid maintenance 3 pack. I was facing a $1,200 estimate like you for my 60k service and paid about $1,150 for my 3 pack with covered the whole 60k service plus the 70k and 80k.

If you are under 80k miles, buy a 3pk or 4pk of pre-paid maintenance plan. The 3pk is $1400 and will cover your next 3 services. So your current service of $1200 will be covered plus the next two. Since you have a 2012, you'll need a transmission flush at your next year A service (7th year) which will be another $500 or $600. So the 3pk pre-paid will be a good investment. Many dealers on this forum who sell extended warranty also sells pre-paid service.

4 months ago I had B service done and because my car is a 2012, they went ahead and did the 60K maintenance with 25K on the odometer. When purchasing the car I had the 2 maintenance deal with the CPO warranty. The cost without was around $700. I used one of the free maintenance deals and it covered it all. So about $700 with new plugs, all new filters, and new brake fluid. They also did the normal inspections.
