W212 Facelift Chrome Seat Adjust Switches

So I was able to score some genuine 2014 chrome power seat sliders/adjuster switches for my black-plastic 2012 ones. Man ... there's a lot of black plastic in these pre 2014 W212's. Anyway ... is it really as simple as carefully prying off the existing black plastic switches/buttons ? God I'd hate to go to remove these and break something .... then have to replace the entire assembly. Anyone do this procedure? Any advice would be appreciated .... gonna attempt this this weekend. (yikes)

Are you sure they are not just a cover that goes over the existing buttons? Otherwise you may need to pull the whole switch assembly out to replace them. The last thing I would do is try to pry them out.

yeah, I know what you're referring to. These are not covers. These are the actual chrome (instead of black plastic) MB buttons ... from a 2014 E350.

They are not designed to be removed from the entire control unit. I had a spare one I practiced and the stem of the buttons have a one-way prong. Even through the dealer there is no way to buy individual chrome buttons, they have to be purchased as one assembly.

Your best bet is to take apart the door panel and switching them out.

Just thought I'd report back. Took a deep breath and dove in with a mini, plastic trim tool. Stock black plastic 'buttons' pop off quite easily. Took a little care, obviously, but they never felt like I was forcing anything or that they would break. All 3 ... headrest, back and bottom buttons ... just popped right off, very cleanly. Then the nice 2014 chrome ones snapped right on. Again, these are not covers ... but the actual entire button. Transformed that part of the interior. These pre-2014 W212 are a sea of black plastic inside. This was a nice upgrade. Next will be the two center console side trim pieces (on either side of the cupholder/command knob areas). My wood trim pieces here are horribly faded and as you know, the 2014 facelift replaced these two "edge" pieces with brushed aluminum.

These are OEM brushed aluminum.

Left one has been wrapped with brushed aluminum vinyl wrap.

OEM vs Vinyl Wrapped. Can you tell which one's real?

One on the left is Aluminum and one on the right in picture is vinyl. Hope I’m right. .

Just did mine today. I bought new brushed buttons. Like you, I was careful and I thought I broke one but it was just the sound of it popping off. Definitely a huge improvement from all that black plastic. I kept the old ones JIC.

Here is where I got mine:
