Just got an E350 sport. Ride/handling questions for you

Hi guys. Just got a 2011 E3 50 sport (finally) with low miles. Clean carfax and clean repair history. I used to drive a 2004 E320 and LOVED that car. It was a tank! Honestly, the ride is totally different on this new one... love it but it’s different. I’m wondering what I can do to improve the quality of the ride? I added nitrous to the tires which makes a big difference... got four wheel alignment but the car seems to drift slightly at high-speed‘s ...I’ve heard this before from other owners as well. thank you

yes on the drifting at highway speeds. Mine seems to be getting worse. I have a thread on this here already and am planning to schedule an alignment and suspension check to see if something is going on. My 2010 did not do this.

Nothing can be done about the crappy ride. Since it is a sport model you feel every bump ion the road. Over time you get used to it but it really is a bad ride. Believe it or not the luxury model is not that much better on the ride. What do you expect "the best or nothing"

I have a 2010 and it rides like a champ. No drifting, still tight at almost 70K miles. You might want to have the alignment and front end checked out, you didnt mention how many miles are on it.

Ride quality can be subjective, but it should not drift around. My 2011 Sport (Continental tires) is rock steady on the road, no drift and very stable. I've taken it well over 100 mph before without any drama at all.
I agree you can feel the road but I actually prefer that over an isolated ride.

48k Miles. I guess I am so used to the 2004 e320 ride and how smooth it was vsl the newer ones.

I heard these newer ones also have ride assist that maybe could be the reason why I feel the drift vs he older model?

The nitrus in the tires made made a huge difference.

This could be your problem.....nitrous is used to rapidly cool intake temperature and boost horsepower .
Seriously though, I've always thought nitrogen in tires makes the car ride rougher and is why I use O2, but shouldn't obviously make the car wander.

No AMG unfortunately, and we'll just leave it as that

The only way nitrogen (not nitrous) can make a huge difference is if your tire pressures were significantly out-of-spec to begin with, or if your tires used to contain a lot of moisture. I'm going to guess the former since the latter is unlikely. The air you breath is almost 80% nitrogen, and at the pressures we run tires at, pure nitrogen, air, pure oxygen, etc, are effectively functionally identical.

Sport models ride more harshly because of the wheels and tires. Not much you can do about it. I have a Luxury version with the comfort suspension and the ride on Michellins is both noisy and uncomfortable. But, it is an M-B, so it is what it is.
I am in process of getting new tires (see new thread).
