E550 Offset for 19"

Hello everyone,

After months of looking, I have finally found the OEM AMG 7-spoke wheels! I would have to get them shipped internationally but before I do so I wanted to ease my mind and confirm if the wheel's offset would be an issue.

The recommended OE offset for those wheels for the E550 4Matic is 8.5J x 19 ET 48 (Front) 9.5J x 19 ET 48 (Rear). However the wheels I am purchasing have the following - 8.5J x 19 ET44 (Front) 9.5J x 19 ET48 (Rear)

Would the front offset of 44 be ok for the E550 4Matic? I am thinking of going with these tire sizes - 245/35 (Front) & 275/30 (Rear). I beleive with this set up the rolling diameter would be .1% of each other.

So ye, I would really appreciate it if somebody can confirm if the above offset and tire sizes would be ok.

Thanks

Tire sizes sound good to me. The offset should not have a problem either. For a 19x8.5 you could easily go into the high 30s offset without a problem

I have a 37ET in front so you are fine. The tire differences can’t be .1%. I have 245/35-19 and 285/30-19 and I am at .1%. Check your numbers again.

Thank you for your reply. With the tire size at 285 at the rear, I’m concerned about clearance levels under the fender.

Did you have any issues with those sizes?

I’m at 50ET in the rear. No issues. You will have even less with a 48ET which is stock. Once again you cannot achieve a .1% difference with the 275/30. Math doesn’t add up. I am a 4Matic also

I reviewed my calcs and I get 1.01” with 245/35/19 front, 275/30/19 rear

With 285/30/19 at the rear - it is 1.00”

To be honest I’m just happy the offset of 44 is not an issue and I will get my installer to double check the tire sizes before I purchase the Pilotsports

I put OEM C63 507 rims with original size tires on a 2011 E350 and the offsets are nice. Just in case that helps with more data points. You will have to google the offsets that came from the factory.

Brakes are stock, standard with E550. Paid $2,100 USD, drove up to Toronto last weekend. The strong exchange rate helped.

Looking good, I couldn't believe how much better the car looks with wider wheels/tires.

My normal tire on the left, and my summer tire on the right.

Considering the power these cars have, I was very surprised to see that the stock tire is only 245! I can’t wait to get the staggered set up on my whip.

These are the wheels I’ll be putting on-

Those are slick ... I can't grasp y some car manufactures go with such a small wheel set up ? Like my other car.. Lexus ls430 .. comes stock with these hedious 18 inch wheels that gets drowned by the large size of the car ..I agree that people love comfort but in that case the wheel well is adequate enough to hold a meaty large 19 inch tire and in the 212s case I really haven't fealt any depreciation in ride quality with my new 19 inch set up

Also for some odd reason the car now looks larger in size ... Don't know y or is it just me ? I always thought the 212 looked smaller than my 211... That was a gripe I always had with the 212

I agree, it makes the car look bigger. It brings the tires flush with the fenders is my guess why.

I wouldn't waste your time or money. It's a lot of effort for a small gain. You'd need to clean them really well then get special paint for calipers.

@bigjule

I shall be going with 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 at the back.

Based on calculator on the site called wheel-size and those sizes are also listed as the OE set up on alloywheels direct site:-

My original wheels ahve ET48 but I put a wheel with 28ET and I can still put a bigger spacer on it... I think 20MM is best

This is W212 forum. You can not put those offsets on W212. Do not confuse C218 with W212.
