2010 Mercedes E550
2010 Mercedes E550

Hello,
I’m a new owner of a 2010 Mercedes Benz E550 with 90k and purchased for a little under 14k. I’ve had the car for a little bit. In that short time I haven’t really done any upgrade or mods yet. I just purchased yesterday Flat Back Emblem, Mercedes Tire Valve Caps, AMG Steering wheel small emblem, 5.5 amg side emblems, Mercedes License Plate, and Chrome Seat Adjusters. I’m suppose to get everything next week I’ll upload some pictures after I install everything.

I was recently driving on the highway and there happened to be a blown out tire in the middle of the lane. I couldn’t swerve it and I hit it luckily no major damage was done. However I did end up cracking the right fog light. The right fog light cover it basically done cracked but still intact. The fog light itself got detached from its clips but light still works. The bottom of the right bumper is split underneath. I should be able to get the light back attached to its clips. I was wondering if anyone could suggest how I fix the cracks in the bumper, and where to buy a new fog light cover. I’ll post some pictures in a little bit, so you can see what I’m talking about.

While I’m on problems my rear shade stopped working too. I can hear the motor working but the shade itself will not come up. Also the brakes I’ve read numerous threads about these having brake problems. I was told the rotors looked a little warped but they stop fine and no vibration just some squeaking here and there. I just moved on a gravel road and thought all that dust getting in there may cause the squeaking. I’m wanting to know which are the best rotors and brake pads to get without having to pay some ridiculous amount.
Last thing is the spotty Bluetooth it works great sometimes the skips other times was wondering if I should take it to Mercedes and get it updated. I have an iPhone X on iOS 11.4 I saw that iOS 11 seemed to be having Bluetooth problems with all cars.

These problems are very minor the car runs beautiful it seems to be a fully loaded with a sport appearance package. It looks and drives amazing I love the little power in the 5.5L V8 and am overall very happy about this car. I was wanting to know if there was anymore cheap interior mods that I didn’t know about and if you could upload some pictures that would be great. If you guys could just tell me about some problems and Preventions and stuff too look out for. I’m hoping down the road to get a tune and upgrade to AMG brakes, and maybe a grill update.

I also drive a 2010 E550 with 150 000 miles on the clock now.

For tune get a SprintBooster. It really does not give extra power but makes it feel like it does as it eliminates the time lag of the pedal. It cost only around $300 and is super easy to install.

This car has plenty of power without real tune but, of course, some of those also are available.

Enjoy your new ride.

My 2011 is just a measly V6 😉 but some mods are the same in application to both models. I did complete LED interior lighting, Morimoto HID retrofit, exterior trim/grille wrap, tint film on tail lights, and powdercoated oem rims to a gunmetal finish. I also applied tint film to upper sweep of headlights following hood curve. Front door MB logo courtesy lights and MB logo on Comand console knob. My car is gray. Very happy with the overall appearance. I think if you look at my gallery pics you can get an idea.
I know everyone has different taste but you had asked about ideas.

2010 E550 Sedan, P2 pkg, night vision, AMG pkg, etc. LOADED!
Welcome! I have a 2010 E550 as well and LOVE it! It's heavily optioned... even has night vision! I had to change out motor mounts/trans mounts. It has 105K miles on it but was a one owner and always dealer serviced so has excellent records. I bought it in Jan. 2018 for $13,600. Airmatic just had a compressor error, I bought a new Arnott compressor with lifetime warranty and will be installing it this week. Enjoy your new ride!

Why the hell would you put AMG emblems on a non AMG? That's plain idiotic. Might as well put a vetec emblem on it too. Good grief man.

That's awesome man I purchased mine for the same exact price it had around 87k. I didn't get the night vision so I'm missing some features for the most part it's pretty techy. I'm getting a 4 year bumper to bumper warranty unlimited miles so that I can get everything done at my local benz dealership

No it wouldn't be the same thing at all as putting a vetec on it, Also to be honest with you I wanted a plain 5.5L v8 emblem. they only had one with amg available. Also it has the amg sport appearance so I mean the amg steering wheel will look fine with a little emblem. I'm not trying to pose this as something it's not I'm keeping the 550 badges on it also in the future I might be adding some AMG parts to it and getting a tune. Not idiotic it's just my taste there's a difference in what everyone likes.

I have not had any issues with the SB at all and have not done any mods either other than I did buy the big star grille and the hood badge but those are not on the car at the moment. I have had them on and off...

The bluetooth streaming on my 2011 is both poor sound quality and spotty connection reliability. I've tried a few different solutions, and now really enjoying this adapter that goes on the 30-pin iPod MMI connector in the glovebox. Both sound quality and connection robustness are vastly improved.

I was also looking at some Morimoto lights for my car. How did the process go? Was it a DIY or did you take it somewhere? Did you do just low beams or high beams or both? The kit comes with a lot of addons and just wondering where you put them inside the engine bay and if you reccomned the Morimoto kit to other PFL W212 owners.

Morimoto is a simple plug and play kit. One of the best kits in the market at a reasonable price. Let us know if we can help you there. Our kit is configured to work with your MB.

If I remember right I posted my initial installation, it should be linked to posts I've done but I can look. Installation is a bit fiddly , just need to take your time. Pass side ballast, canbus connector are in engine compartment but secured to components behind headlight. Driver side I pulled wheel and front section of plastic inner liner to access headlight. Ballast and canbus connector are secured to components then covered with inner liner. Round bulb access covers need a 7/8 hole to allow wiring connector and hid bulb installation. I replaced oem small metal bulb retaining clips with eBay split versions that fit around the hid wires. The Morimoto kit also orients the hid bulbs correctly within the factory projectors. Cut off is quite good as is light spread. One of the best improvements I've made mainly since they are in projectors and not reflector housings. I didn't do hi beams since I don't use them much at all. Parking lights are canbus led, nothing special but they match the color level of lo beams and lower hockey puck leds.
Edit - initial installation was 5k bulbs but I've since changed them to 5.5k, just personal preference. I think I mentioned 6k in another post but they are 5.5k.
My initial post

Did you install the new fog light yet? How did you get to it? Did you have to remove the bumper?

When I hit a truck tire in the middle of the highway it knocked it out and kind've destroyed the bumper. My bumper is a little loose and cracked pretty decently too, I'm getting all that repaired though. Foglight cover is coming into today I might install and my appointment to fix is Monday. Looking at it with the fog light off I dont think you need to get the bumper off the clips should be able to just get popped out or there's like some screws underneath car that might be able to help you pull it out.
