Now that you have updated the firmware, get the software dongle from Vladimir. Insert the dongle, apply the coding and you're done. Updates to AA are applied to the app your phone, so there should be no reason to apply any further updates on the car. If someday they find an update to - say, enable Wireless AA, we'll cross that bridge when (and if) we get there.

If I read thru this thread correctly, uninstalling the options from Vladimir's dongle is as simple as plugging the dongle back in; and then to re-install plug the dongle in again. Is this correct? And has anyone been able to successfully 'uninstall' and then re-install?

He said there should be no reason to uninstall ACP/AA, because "the dealers don't care if you have it or not." I may be reading too much into this, but it seems his indirect response means that: 1) not many folks have tried to uninstall it, or that 2) uninstalling doesn't always work. In any event, I think these cars are now more than 4 years old, so the OEM warranty is either expired or will expire within a couple months, making the worry moot.
I understand your newly-acquired car has its OEM warranty until May. If I were you, I would have the dealer address all your initial delivery concerns (stated in other threads). Once you are confident these issues are fixed, you may feel more comfortable in using the dongle after May. I lived with my car for 18-months, and got to understand it enough, that I installed the AA/ACP dongle a couple months before the OEM warranty expired. There have been no problems since.
All said, I can't think of any reason to uninstall it myself.

I hope to eventually have the dealer update my firmware. My car is under warranty through October, then CPO warranty through October 2023. I plan to activate CarPlay and leave it that way.. I'll just turn it to radio if I have to drop it at the dealer for something.

I have CPO warranty until May 2021. Not too worried about the ACP/AA, but would be worried about ECO and E/S remembering last setting. I thought I read Vladimir saying the dealer could set things so that his dongle would no longer work?

I did read that, too.. but I wasn't planning on disabling eco and E mode seems fine to me so I was just going to go with AA/CP activation. I do believe you can plug it in and revert back to stock, but no clear answer it seems.

My pixel phone is on the list for supporting Wireless AA however I am not sure if Vladimir's OBD2 activation will support that feature on my 2016 W212, I guess that remains to be found.

Keep in mind that ACP/AA (1.0) was barely available on the market when the W212 2016 sedans were built (2015), and it had to be designed long before that.

Big thanks to everyone in this thread for being the guinea pigs on this. I am sitting at my local Mercedes dealer as we speak, waiting for my firmware to be flashed after spending almost 1/2-hour convincing them I have bluetooth issues (note to anyone else using Android - check out Tasker-- a simple script to randomly turn bluetooth on and off on your phone helped my cause
)
ODB connector on the way from Vladamir, fingers crossed I'll have AA up and running by next week!

My car is at the dealership now and they say they have updated COMAND. I'm due to get it back on Tuesday. Here's to hoping it's updated.

I will have to look at mine to see if the fuel odometer has changed?

He gave me a bunch of options for my car - up to about a total of $800 - including a tune apparently to bump it to 322hp instead of 302. I didn’t take him up on that for now.

Thanks to everyone here who has accomplished this and shared their content. Simply outstanding. I will be trying to see if I can do it on my 2016 e63 wagon with NTG 5.5/3U2 (prod 3/2015). For those who have done this already do you think this wireless CarPlay adapter would work once AA/ACP is installed?

You may have to be the guinea pig for this one.

I hear you on that one. Baby steps for me. I'll get the ACP working first and see how things go from there. I did email my car detail to the Carplay2air seller and they replied that if my car had ACP from the factory then it would work. While this is not necessarily from the factory....... part of me is torn that it kind of is. Anyway.....I found a post on the GL side of things were they were showing signs of it working for them. I know its' a different platform but my fingers are crossed for the E-class crew. Stay tuned & Thanks.

I would be interested in this if it works.. but it is not cheap, and if it skips or fails to connect or drains the battery rapidly that would be a no go. Once CarPlay is unlocked in the 2016s it is technically from the factory.

Ok. Step #1 complete. I went on a short drive to the grocery store today and confirmed my car is on the most recent software (ringtone ACP feature present). Whoot whoot! I had my car at the dealer several months ago and had some satellite issues. They were able to trouble shoot this issue and fix it under warranty with a new module. The paperwork read update software and so that was probably this that gave me unknowingly the update. On to step #2. Ordering the OBD module. I already tried to see if ACP was unlocked as well and it wasn’t. Oh well. Stay tuned!!

I just read that one is supposed to email your VIN Vladimir prior to ordering the dongle. I need his email address.
Also where is the USB2 port? One of theones in the center console?
Finally, what is a landmark near the OBD2 port?
