Suggestion on bumper protection for wagon.
Have a 2014 wagon and would like to protect the rear bumper from little kids sandy shoes and random items that may scratch the paint over time.

The top surface of the bumper is around 4" wide. The area most subject to scratches, etc, is the flat surface about 3 feet wide.
If you want something clear (like a bra for the bumper), I found this product at Amazon.com while looking for another project. It's so inexpensive, it is worth experimenting. Search for: "VViViD 3M Clear Paint Protection Vinyl Film 4" Wide"
For kids crawling in and out of the vehicle, a thicker bumper top step pad might be better, but more utilitarian than attractive. (Lucky you have a black car) You will have to find a vehicle with similar bumper dimensions. You can find ideas from this selection here, although none listed will directly fit an MBZ

I saw a Toyota RAV4 this morning with a straight bumper top protector. That, or this one for a Yaris. Looks generic enough. Matching any subtle curve in your rear bumper with the hundreds of protectors available is the key. You can always trim any excess width from the inner edge..

Happen to have the part number laying around for the chrome outer protector for the bumper? I was thinking I could spray a truck bed coating on it and make it more durable. Either that or I will go for a clear film in a couple layers to protect the paint.

Here is what I use on my 2016 wagon: Schaetz Tuning: Stainless Steel Bumper Protection It is stainless like the bumper protectors on MB's other vehicles, but for some reason was not used on their wagons. It is full bumper width unlike others which you can find on eBay. I could not find an OEM bumper protector.

I have the Xpel clear on mine. http://www.xpel.com/paint-protection...350/Wagon/Base It's pre-cut to fit exactly even going up the sides to meet the tailights. It actually included enough to do it twice when I got it.

I see that Aktash has installed the Schaetz bumper protection and it looks really nice...

Here is a photo of it as installed. Super easy to to do. Just pull the tabs off the 3M double sided tape sections and attach to the bumper. Very OEM looking to me as the corner edges nicely follow the upward contour of the bumper. The above quoted link is for Post-Facelift (2014-2016) wagons. Schaetz also makes stainless bumper protectors for Pre-facelift wagons AND sedans.
Curious if the vehicle color is selenite grey metallic..
Do you mind taking a pic of your whole rear of the car in a distance? Just want to see how the protector look..

Any idea the relationship between the manufacturer Schantz and the supplier CKS Performance LTD on Amazon? I am in Canada. Manufacturer site doesn't ship outside Europe. Supplier on Amazon ship from UK to worldwide.
For those that have Schantz installed, do you have any tips on installing? I can pull the long tape backing that goes along the edge inch by inch to ensure proper alignment. For those square ones, there is no way to pull it as you settle it. It needs to remove all ahead of time. That gives me one shot to align it perfectly

Similar to installing a rear spoiler, I would use painters tape to secure it after lining it up on the bumper. Then flip it over while still taped and remove the backing off the double-sided tape. Then flip it back over. This ensures it's in the exact same place. After that, I would put something heavy on it to ensure it adheres. Of course, the key to all this is properly prepping the surface of the rear bumper.

what he said.. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/bonding-...2-88e452ca38c0
I looked at three choices:
1 a loose cloth flap held on with loop and hook velcro. (I went with the cheapest)
2 clear bra material (installed by tear drop tattooed sound system experts)
3 a $50 panel that Schantz sells for $300. (which will end up with as many scratches as the one already on my car)

I have the weathertek wagon trunk liner with the optional rollup bumper protector. its handy when dragging heavy stuff in and out of the trunk, or when your dog is jumping in and out (except the dog we currently have, our son's border collie, was notorious for destroying seatbelts when he wanted to make a point, so he mostly doesn't ride in the wagon at all).

hmmm. not sure which is worst; the cost of the seat belts or the labor required to replace them.
had two different cats that loved car rides. always pooped in my car within the first block..

when we travel with Seamus, he rides in a dog crate. when on our last trip he destroyed the pad in the crate, we left it all in there with him. He's a very stubborn and willful dog, although my son had him quite well trained, he's now completely deaf. He will respond well to hand signals, but if he doesn't want to, he'll just look the other way, whoops, no point in yelling at him. he also lunges barking madly at squirrels, cats, other dogs, even when on leash, and barks and chases light reflections on the ceiling (the headliner in my F250 has bite marks above the back halfseat, my wife was using her phone while we were traveling, and the sunlight was flashing above him.
Anyone wanna McNab? 12 years old. Chases anything that moves. Loves to run.
