I'm replacing the rear rotors and pads on my 2010 (W212) E550 4matic. I removed the rear left rotor and the parking break shoes seemed tight against inside of the rotor. When attempting to place the new rotor on, it wont fit over the parking brake shoes.
I've adjusted the star wheel closed all the way, I've released the emergency brake from within the car. I've put the car in neutral (after removing the rotor.)
Wait. These are drum brakes with shoes. Not sure what you are clamping onto and compressing. You absolutely have to back off the star adjuster. Did you do this through the pilot hole of the old rotor first to remove the worn rotors?
Sure you bought the appropriate rotors?
Welcome to the forum. First thing to do is verify that you have the proper direct replacement rotors. Measure the diameter of the new rotor park brake recess and compare to your new rotors. They should match up pretty closely. If the new rotors are a lot smaller then you have to exchange them. You have adjusted the park brake shoes all the way in, make sure that they have collapsed completely. I have attached WIS instructions to review. If the new rotors are correct then push harder to get them over the brake shoes then adjust them according the the attached instructions.

He did not say he had drum brakes he said he had rotors. Unless he does not know the difference you would be correct Brum brakes do not need the C clamp but rotors do.. I took him for what he said rotors.

He has rotors, correct. The concern though is that the left rear rotor has the drum brake parking brake inside the rotor itself. This rotor is dual function. He cannot get the rotor over the collapsed drum pads.

Parking brake shoes shown here, as mentioned they fit inside the rotor.
Unless the rotors are wrong or the shoes are jammed the rotor should slip over the shoes without dragging. Dragging would overheat things back there when driving.

I understand E550 has bigger brake rotors than E350. Could it be you accidentally bought E350 parts?
