Stuck parking brake on 2016 MB E350

Almost every morning, but especially when it's colder, the parking brake sticks and requires me to put my foot underneath the brake and force it up as I'm pulling the brake release. Is there a fix to this or is this just how it will always be?

Sounds like it needs some adjusting. Of course this isn't normal.

Thanks. It's just coming up on its A service so I'll have the service dept. take a look. I saw the thread earlier and it looks like it is correctable. We first noticed it when it was still warm outside and my wife couldn't get the 'brake' light to go off, and that was in August/September time frame. It's much worse now. It will start to wear out the tops of my left shoe if this keeps up.

for sure. The e-brake pedal is also very sensitive from my experience. I touch mine by accident when getting in the car on occasion and the warning light illuminates even though it was only nudged by my foot.

This is what they did to the 2014 E350 that I had with this problem. And fortunately covered under CPO warranty.

Good luck!

Had mine replaced under factory warranty last week at a dealer for the same issue. The replacement works great.

Like yours mine sticks when it starts getting 40 degrees or below, I found if you just hold the release lever out for an extended period of time it will eventually and slowly release if you want to avoid pulling it up by foot. Lets say it is 32 degrees out, the initial handle pull will pop it up ~half, if i keep the handle pulled out it will slowly release the rest of the way over the course of 1-2 seconds. Its annoying as hell and considering I am going to Minnesota next week I need to consciously tell myself to not engage the brake to avoid having it frozen solid in the negative temps we will see up there.

I think it is something on the interior side of things though as it works just fine once the interior has been warmed for some time, it will be sticky when it has sat overnight in freezing temps but after driving with a warmed cabin for 15-20 minutes it works perfectly.

But what about minor do-it-yourself guys like myself? Is there any kind of simple fix? Has the dealer described the reason for the problem to any of you who have had it replaced for free? It's more irritating than anything, since my wife's not even allowed to touch the car.

I just sprayed lithium grease on mine, seems fine now. I don't use it ever, just hit it with my foot when I get in like Key.
Makes you wonder if the new one has a stronger spring or?

U mean real electric parking brake , like this one ? :

I thought all W212 still uses the push/pull mechanical cable only.

All W212s use a mechanical, foot-operated e-brake.. correct. These things getting stuck is quite common. Had mine repaired under warranty last year.

Okey, Thanks LIL.

Well, I am not suprised if the push/pull cable will eventually get kinda "stuck" unless we maintain it once in a while.
Rust + dust can't escape easy from the parking brake chamber.
I recently adjusted mine for better bite at foot pedal 4-5 click and clean the chamber.
Nothing stuck though.

And I forgot to mention spraying WD40 into the cable sheath, moving it back and forth a few times, so lithium on the mechanism hinge point and WD40 down the cable connection, worked for me.

Had the mechanism repaired under warranty. Waste of time, Still sticks. Guess it is a design flaw ]. Not a big issue

Maybe an alternative lubricating product you find less odiferous?

WD-40 isn't even a real lubricant, it's a rust remover. Get a real lubricant.. I recommend Super Slick Stuff.
