Warning Notification in Speedometer

I'm in a 2012 E350 sport sedan, with 33K and I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with this question. I was driving along yesterday and I received some sort of warning that came on in red in the speedometer portion of the instrument cluster, it blocked out everything in the speedo portion only, was about 2 lines long, and beeped a warning consisting of about 5 (+ or -) beeps, and then went away and it went back to the speedo as it was before. The problem was it caught me off guard and didn't last long enough for me to get my reading glasses on to read it. It hasn't come back on again since. Can anyone give me an idea what this might have been? Appreciate your help.

It could be anything from your hood is unlatched to you are going to rear-end the car in front of you. Wear your glasses when driving if you need them.

Well my hood is latched and I don't need to wear reading glasses for driving! Thanks for your input.

Read manual as it lists warnings and other display messages.
HAs picture of them and explains them

If that was something drivetrain-related, it will have stored code.
If that was something like hood switch, you will be left in dark, unless it happen again.

You can try to scroll over to "messages" on your display and see if the warning is still displayed there. It's on the maintenance menu of the MFD. If nothing there then you must wait

If you were listening to music and the music cut out (or went really really low) it was possibly the "Key not detected" message. It's a big, angry, red notification with a picture of the key fob and two lines of text under it. It chimes until the key is detected... so you might need to replace your battery. (Shooting in the dark based on my experience with errors/warnings and your description.)

Since you didn't mention hitting "OK" then issue resolved itself. That would be the case with the key not detected. I've had that happen before. If no stored codes or saved messages, you're fine unless it happens again.
