Bumper piece missing
I had my car towed to the dealership about a month ago for failure to start. The towing company used a flatbed. Afterwards I got my car back and now I find that the piece of bumper (black plastic)
covering the tow hook point is missing. I honestly didn’t check it when I received the car but now that I’ve seen it, I can’t unsee it anymore. I don’t know what is that part called or the part number. Will calling the dealership be of any help now, or I’m on the hook? Thanks.

IIRC, the towing pintle cover should have an integrated tether molded with it to avoid loss while towing. Can someone confirm?

I've been searching the ebay and online sources for this part and it confusingly comes with two different parts. One is costing approximately $40 and the other $6. To clear up the confusion I called my dealership parts dept and the guy says the same thing. It has two parts (an upper and a lower), which one you want. The prices are the same as mentioned above before tax.
I was about to order the $6 part online to see if that was sufficient, but it has a $13 shipping fee and that put a damper on my enthusiasm. Can someone help me out here, please.
Mine is a 2014 facelift E350.
Thanks.

Why are you avoiding the dealer? It is not going to be cheap, but it will come painted with factory paint, while saving maybe $20 will put you in the hassle of painting with questionable results?
Dealer has to guarantee the fit.

Should be about $4.50, just go to the dealer.

Visiting the dealership for this issue alone is probably not worthwhile for me. I have to go to the next nearest town about 50 miles away and will club it with my next service visit.

I guess I’ll have to visit the dealership anyway. The part isn’t a painted one. It’s the rubber part you see on the back bumper. Only the front bumper part is painted.

When I try it, it says not compatible with my 2014 E350.

I have the facelift W212 sport model. The towing was provided for free by calling the Mercedes hotline. Should I contact the MB corporate for this issue? Maybe I should ask the MB dealership service first. I’m not sure now.

Doesn't hurt to try, just explain the situation. They probably won't even blink at such a minor cost.

Just wanted to update you guys on what happened. I tried calling my dealership to get it resolved but it was getting nowhere. All they wanted was to sell me the parts at $46+ tax. The sport model gets the AMG style rear bumper and that’s why the difference in price I guess. I contacted MBUSA and they stepped up the plate. They contacted the dealer themselves and today I finally got my tow hook cover replaced for free. I’m quite happy with the service from MBUSA.

Having said that, it's too bad the plastic around the cap was scratched to **** when they popped it off. =\
