hi all, i have just bought a 2010 e200 cdi rhd sedan, the stereo/command screen and steering wheel buttons all dont work, im assuming there is no power going to it and a fuse somewhere is blown.
i checked the fuses in the engine compartment and in the boot/trunk area and they all seem fine.
any info would be great as to where to look, would like to fix this myself and dont want to take it to a main dealer.

Did you try the power button?
*Cough*
Okay, sorry I have nothing actually helpful to add... my years doing tech work made me say the above.

fixed ! it was the 10amp fuse in the back of the stereo.
but my steering wheel buttons still dont work, i also have a fault code for the steering wheel airbag, im assuming its all wired together, any ideas ? its the standard steering wheel that is fitted but im thinking it has maybe been replaced at some point in time, does a replacement steering wheel need coding in ?

Steering wheel replacement shouldn't require coding as long as it is the same part number/variant. If it was previously replaced they might have not connected the buttons control wires or broken them somehow. I would start by looking in there first. Remember to disconnect the battery terminals before attempting to disconnect the airbag connectors. Wait at least 15 minutes after battery disconnect before unplugging airbag wires.
i have found them wires under the steering column, does anyone know what they are supposed to be plugged into ?
steering lock and horn doesnt work either, zero power going to the steering wheel , any ideas why ?

Do you have access to WIS? Find your car there via VIN and look for the schematics. From looking at the pictures you uploaded, the two white plugs look like power plugs and the other are module control (could be steering wheel buttons control and/or horn). You won't know until you look at the wiring diagram. A scan would help you find out exactly where to look on the wiring diagram.
would a faulty clock spring kill all the power to the steering wheel buttons/horn and airbag?

How do you plan on figuring out the wiring without reading the car schematic?Originally Posted by whiteakita
Unfortunately I don't have wis and I can't read electronic diagrams.
Working under the dashboard is no pick-nick even with a wiring diagram
