Oh Boy!
With 1000's different tires available you can really spend a life researching the best at the time.
Tire choice is always sacrifice.
You sacrifice comfort for handling.
You sacrifice long lasting for better cornering
You sacrifice the life for the price.
Coming to the size, MB sedans come from factory with tires in 205 - 255 mm width and I hear you can fit even 300 mm tires on the rear, so the size is personal choice.
IMHO the wide tires are fit for the looks, where they don't bring much benefits. Actually wide tires might become danger on wet surface as car will be more prone to hydroplaning.
For the same reasons snow tires usually come in narrower size.
Have fun making the choice.

What wheel size do you have?
17, 18, 19, 20??

Wider the tire and lower profile you get less tires to choose from.

On mine:
Fr = 245/40/18
Rr - 265/35/18

About 100 different tires fit the front but really only about 30 or so fit the rear so the rear dictate what I have to get.....

This is simply the best tire going for my sedans. Not on the cheap side but I got 40k miles out of my last set on my S550.

Not enough information

All weather or summer? Best performance or cheapest (usually mutually exclusive)? Comfort or best performance (usually mutually exclusive)? Long life or best performance (usually mutually exclusive)? What model Pirelli you have now might give us a clue about your interest if you are happy with them? If not, what would you like to see improved?

I have Pilot Sport 4s and is pretty happy with it, although road noise might be intolerable for some,
only thing I hate about is it tends to pick up every sand and rock on the road and stick on the surface of the tire,
thought about switching to PS AS/3+ but living in California I don't think I'll need an all season tire.

245/40/18 on mine.
All I need is ride comfort and reduced noise.
Don't care about, handling, performance, etc
not too sensitive much on price, but don't want to spend fortune. What would you guys recommend?

I have Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 on my car, they are a pretty good budget performance summer tire if you can't afford Michelin PS4S :B

No point in me running all seasons in CA.

Costco. As others mentioned, Michelin A/S 3+. They have them for $670 a set after their $70 rebate or $185 a tire, but they usually run sales where it's just 1 cent for installation which I think just expired, but they seem to do it every couple of months. You get a 5 year road hazard warranty and free rotation and balancing. Plus when you crack/bend a rim, they charge $15 to swap the rim that you can buy on eBay.

Thanks a lot. I'll keep that in mind. I don't have a Costco nearby, only Sam's club and Walmart.

Sam's has it for the same price with the $70 rebate. But I don't think they run that 1 cent sale so when Costco does it, it saves you $60 on installation. Otherwise road hazard warranty, rotation, balance and all are the same. Sams seems to include 3 years of tire roadside service too which Costco doesn't.

Hello guys,
1. I'm due to change my tires, and found the Michelin's are $740ish including mounting etc. At DT, Costco etc similar price.
Costco is 840ish includes road hazard warranty for 5-years. DT I need to pay extra and they would cover only 3-years.
2. Mine 4Matic, but on staggered 18" setup. Can I buy 245/40/18 all around or I have to buy the 225s in the front?

Thanks

It's really going to depend on which wheels you have on the car. The factory staggered 18" setup on my 2010 E350 is

245/40-R18 Front
265/35-R18 Rear

I don't see the 4MATIC staggered as an option for the 2014 W212, but anything is possible. Do you really have 225s up front? That seems a bit narrow.

Yeah, currently 225 in the front.
I checked here on the forum and they seemed few people are running that way. Had them for 20k mile already.

I run staggered 19's and I have the Kumho Ecsta PS91 tires. 245/35s in front and 285/30s in the rear. They're sticky, and their fairly inexpensive($145 front & $185 rear. I go through tire really fast as I drive really fast, and aggressively). I just put them on recently and don't have a lot of miles on them yet, but I've been impressed with dry and wet traction so far...

I think your previous owner played around with the size, I think 4matic is supposed to be the same all around. Plus when you can't rotate them, they don't last as long so it's good to get the same 4 all around. Size should be on the door placard which should be the 245/40/18 mentioned earlier. I'd prefer a 5 year road hazard. At one point I was getting one or two flats every year. Someone on this last set, they've been fine for the last couple years so far so I guess I'll take that over having a flat.

Man...you guys need a Discount Tire in your life! lol! best prices or they'll match it, and if you buy the certificate(price varies according to original price of tire, I think I paid around $20/tire) you get FREE replacement of said tire as long as it has legal tread(2/32") with NO PRORATING! God I love that place...

Actually that was me. The previous owner had those ugly 17" luxury rims which I hated. When they were due, I upgraded to the 2018 C43 wheels which were unfortunately staggered setup. I check on this website and lots of people had staggered setup on their 4matic and the difference was minimal (less than 5% error), so, I pulled the trigger.

In regards to rotation, Yeah, I tried to get the front wheels similar and not many people are interested in selling their $5k wheel upgrade package/option for cheaper price

Sure, I will buy the certificate if I go with DT.
