These nightmare plugs are not standard nuts and bolts.
The diff plug unlike engine drain plug is sealed with its clever shape: IT IS CONICAL, no crush-washer, hollow head.
So FYI the front diff is not conical like usual ones. It is same/similar as transmission and has a crush washer.

However the diff plugs are low and very exposed to hazardous road projections.
Do they have a valve that is flush ?
With a magnetic plug 40kMi schedule is ultra conservative... no need frequent access, right?
The fumoto I got will not work as you mentioned not enough clearance. I did get one of the oil drain magnetic plugs however the washer and plug are slightly larger then the flat spot machined into the front diff. Gonna look for another washer to fit correctly or grind down the one that came with it.
Overall changing the front diff fluid is pretty darn easy once your are in the area. Mine looked really dark and definitely needed it. Hopefully I can get the magnetic plug to work correctly as I think it really needs it. Just about every diff I have changed fluid on has had one, not sure why they wouldnt do it on these.
