Locked stuck rear (right) door opened after disconnecting OTHER working (left) Door.

I had rear right door locked all the time fault.

[Incidentally my Delphi DS150e diagnostic showed.

‘Multifunction (Doors - Rear right door - MT/AT - DMRR_212)

DTC Description

9909

- Output for actuator motor additional door lock

- Electrical fault

- Permanent

9909

- Output for actuator motor additional door lock

- Short circuit to ground or open circuit

- Intermittent

Using remote I tried listening to both rear right and working OK rear left doors. Repeatedly operating both.
I then disconnected the broken rear right and operated the rear left only. A distinct clear 'thunk' was heard as the lock and dead lock acted in unison.

Then disconnected rear left so as to operate just the broken rear right.
Each time I unlocked /locked there was a 'thunk' on unlocking followed immediately by a tiny 'buzz'.
I am guessing the buzz is the dead lock failing to unlock.

After repeating this lock/unlock 5 times the tiny 'buzz' ceased. I then opened the door from the outside. A good result.

I am guessing having the working rear left door disconnected gave just a fraction more power to the broken right door module.

I am not going to shut the door again until I have effected a repair to whatever is broken in the door. But at least it is open now. So I should be able to remove the door panel reasonably easily.

So I managed to get my door open, need to fix the outside handle next.

So like the op, rear left door outside handle not working and child lock on so couldn't open from inside.

I tried cable ties (found metal ones too) but too bendy width wise, and the welding core but couldn't get that through between the door and sill as too tight.

What eventually worked an old chopping mat that is ~ 2 mm thick, cut that ~ an inch wide and cut a rectangle hole in the middle ~14cm long and pass that through between the door and sill just under the lock which is just above the armrest from inside to the outside. Then Mrs & I pulled the improvised tool up towards the lock, you should be able to hear the child lock latch flick as the mat passes over, you can't pass the mat past the lock so the only way is down & that switch gets captured in that hole in the mat and will flick down.

Has taken me 2 days to get it open, I was about to resort to cutting the lock from outside if this last attempt had failed. I had been trying a different piece of mat shaped at 1 end to try and push the latch as it passed & also shaped with a 2cm hole & I could hear the switch as the mat passed but the force needed to move the switch was too much and I guess the mat was eventually just passing over the switch.

I hope this helps the next person.

in my case fixing the lock took less than 10 minutes.
I followed what was in this video

on the rear door you need a long T20 screwdriver to reach the screw where the handle is.

it may take a little while of probing with screwdriver until you find it.

once unscrewed the lock shroud will become loose.

pulling the handle you will notice a hooked thing behind it, using a hooked tool pull that hook towards the handle and push the handle so its hook goes behind the other hook (you'll know what I mean).

now close the door and test the handle, it should work.

Job done, reassemble the handle shroud and done.

Merc wanted £110 just to diagnose the fault, then no doubt it would be a new actuator etc etc, I estimated they'd charge £800 all in including 2 workshop hours & VAT.

I had this same problem once. Turned out that my door wasn't shut all the way. My soft close doors worked, but a little weak. I just happened to push on the door from the outside kind of firmly and the door clicked. I was able to open the door using the handle after that. Good Luck!

Damn cold

I was unable to open my rear doors last night. When I got home from evening plans, I got driver side rear open. This morning everything works like it should.

Something functional for opening rear doors must not like this single digit temperature weather.

yes there are door modules + locks modules that can become plagued with disruptions... for some reason.

Once you retrieve fault codes with a scanner, the fix here will be obvious: the lock actuator needs silicon lube or the DCU needs a reset.

Getting to the lock involves drilling door rivets. Besides that they are made for good easy service.

For everyone else, it's best not to slam your doors as that loosens the fragile DCU pins.
