Been enjoying my benz for a year now. Quick question, how do I keep it from defaulting to drive when using the paddles.

I don't use the paddles regularly. But I recall READING IN THE MANUAL that the transmission automatically reverts to Drive a few seconds after the paddles are last used... or if you try to hold a manual gear beyond the rev limit for that gear for too long. Presumably this protects the transmission and I wouldn't have it any other way..

Put the transmission into sport mode and then use the paddles? Don’t know if that works, but seems like it might make sense? Leaving it in eco mode seems counter intuitive...

I will say, for a traditional “slush box”, it does pretty well with the paddle shifting. I have a true dual clutch box in my other car and drive it in manual mode 99% of the time, but almost never manual mode in the benz..
