Trying out some 19” Audi wheels looking for tire recommendation

Hello All,
I picked up this set of Audi wheels for $100, so figured worth a shot for the price.
They are all four 35 offset 8.5” 19’s 66.56
Any thoughts on fitting?
and Recommended tire size. I saw a recent post that said 255/35/19 & 285/30/19 but he was running a 9.5 rear. So as much as I would like staggered, equal all around is fine with me as well, since anything is an upgrade from the stock 17’s.
Thanks for any input.

What's wrong with the stock 17s? Are they from an Audi, too?

I see curb rash from 6 feet away. Or is it black tire rubbing?

.

Yes there is a little curb rash, but most looks worse than actually is because of being dirty and some marks that look like rash.
As far as what is wrong with the 17’s. I have one sensor that will needs replacing and I have 2 tire that will need replacing in the next 6 months. So I would rather up size my wheels to improve the look of the car by filling out the wheel well as well as the 17’s are a very good looking style and no they are stock, not Audi.

If you are DIY...scuff the rash and a little around the wheel (whole wheel with red scotchbrite) and use body filler (very little) then sand down. Spray with metlalic silver and clear. Looks better than rash. Tire size I would run 235 40 18 if it was me. Slightly off but give enough meat for potholes.

Agreed on the sanding

I definitely planned on sanding down on the rash. To be honest it really does look a lot deeper than it is. I thought the same thing before I saw in person. I actually planned on trying out a Black finish in dip, So was going to sand smooth and spray and see how that looks. The wheels are 19’s so I’m kinda of looking for the equivalent on what you mentioned, but in 19”.
i appreciate everyone’s input

I recommend 245/35-19 all around. I have the 285/30-19 on my rear, but as you indicated they are mounted on a 9.5" wide rim.

The size is incrementally different, the middle number is important - it's 40 (40% of the width) so I would find a 235 40 19 or 225 40 19. If you search tire rack for the reasonable options on price you can check the outside diameter of your tires and then the new tires to stay within range. Less than 40 and [you may bend a wheel. I had 35's on my w211 that were bent.

Appreciate the views

Key & Board, I agree with both of you. I was thinking about the 245’s and considering the 40 series for the extra cushion for bending prevention. I have to look into it more but I’m more worried about the load rating now, since the previous post from the person who discount tire wouldn’t do less than the 255/35 & 285/30 based on the load ratings because the 245 & 275 were coming under. Of course Discount tire has the best prices on tires around me, to the extent of $200 less than anyone for a set.
Thanks again

Yes, you need the hi load rating for these cars. Do not install anything different. Be careful here. The 225/40 has the same sidewall depth as the 245/35 (3.5 vs 3.4). The rolling diameter of stock is right around 25.7. The 245/35 will give you 25.8, so no speedo discrepancy per se. Just moving to a 19" wheel will set you up for a firmer ride and more pothole exposure, so pick your poison and good luck!

Key, agreed I hate the speedo discrepancies. The issue I just found is Non of the manufacturers have a load rating into the 96 range until you get to 255 series.
by the way any thoughts on the offset of 35
i thought that was what I should be looking for but recent post I’ve seen have some people using the 44 offset.

Tee, I agree on the Dub stamp. I’m working on that solution, I will at minimum sand down the Audi emblem and working on trimming and attaching the Mercedes symbol.

245/40-19 Bridgestone Potenza S-04 pole position is a 97 I believe and there are others. The 35 offset is max and not sure a 255 tire works up front. Stock ET is 48 all around. There are other posts here where guys are running 35 all around.

Some pertinent discussion:

Good Link

I think the 8.5 all around will help a little on the offset and according to the link you posted, I think I’ll be ok. I found a place in Orlando that has Advanta’s in 245/40 with a 98 rating and I think that would be be decent to run on all 4 corners.
I will definitely update this post when I settle in on a set, oddly enough I don’t have anyone local to me with the Potenza’s in stock/

Sounds good. Like to see those on your MB. They are very similar in design to my E63 AMG wheels ( and a whole lot cheaper....)
