Looking to upgrade from W210 (2001) to W212
First question is how much smaller is the cargo area? I knew it was a little smaller but cars.com reports it is only 20 cubic feet? Is that right? The only W124 and W210s were both over 40! I have a large dog which is the primary use of the vehicle and he would not be happy....
Thanks
Thanks

I am at a loss to explain it. The guy is even sitting in the back of the wagon.

Thanks! by my calculations even using the low ceiling height that is 35 cubic feet - a little down on the far more blocky W124 and W210s. This site has it at 34.8

I think I figured out cargo capacity
On another thread I found a link to the sales brochures. The 2005 wagon (not sure if that is W210 or W211) is listed at only 24.9! The W212 (2013) is listed at 20.5 - TO THE TOPS OF THE SEATS!.
That is good for me. The large dog prefers being above the seat!

Our 2013 W212 Wagon came with an integral pet screen that deploys upwards from the top of the stowed cargo cover assembly / rear seat up to the roof and latches there. Not sure if that was an option. love the wagons. Just moved our son into an apartment for college and the wagon fit a complete twin bed box spring and tall mattress with the rear seats folded down ...WOW, I was impressed. The rear seats on the W212 wagon do not fold completely flat as just the backs tumble forward over the seat bottoms. This yields a longer cargo space than the W211 wagon which you fold the seat bottoms up and forward and then the backs do fold flat.
We just bought a rubber cargo mat for the wagon 's rear cargo area and found one from TRAVALL that perfectly. Best of all it only cost $70 USD w/ free shipping. That's 1/2 the price of MB OEM and way less than Weathertech.
