2010 E550 A/C problem
Purchased my 2010 E550 sedan in the USA and took european deliver. It's been a GREAT car, lots of miles works great, seldom have any sort of mechanical problem. About a year ago we started having problems where the A/C would fail. It would blow hot air (it's texas) and no a/c cold air. After stopping, turning off the ignition, the A/c would work fine, until the next episode. That worked for a year and a half with the occasional problem surfacing being rectified by a restart. This week the A/C appears to be permanently not working. My fix has not worked for a week despite multiple attempts using the old solution. turn the car off and restart. Any idea's what might be causing this? I'm headed to the dealer but am frankly frightened by the cost of all things mercedes to repair out of warranty cars.
I’m sure your issue has been low refrigerant all along and you should have brought it in earlier. Hopefully after a recharge and dye check for leaks you will be good. My experience with MB is they go for 6 years or so before starting to blow warm air. My Experience with Asian brand cars is more like 12 years...

besides adding refrigerant is not that complicated (if you are really low on R134a) you can buy a kit like this one: https://www.autozone.com/a-c-chargin...0oz/974769_0_0

Never hears Autozone or other ever touching MB AC system, but I think they might borrow you a scanner.
Will the scanner be MB-oriented? I doubt it, but would encourage someone to try, .
For me $150 for my own scanner is cheap - as I mentioned >>> equals single visit to stealership.
MB modern AC systems operate with 7 or more sensors, who are interlocked with car computer. Crystal-balling the trouble is not efficient.
